Seems the figures have walking sticks for the sightless. And the figures have no eyes. And, the figures seem to be ‘in the dark.’ And, there are a bunch of figures.
Does it mean those in VA are ‘in the dark’ and blind to what is happening?
Who knows? I guess someone could check out his newspaper for responses.
An 8 year old autistic boy was lost for 6 days in Virginia. Thousands of volunteers came out to help with the search, so many that some had to be turned away; one of the volunteers found him. The cartoon is celebrating the outstanding community response. I lived in Virginia for years. That is the way they are.

I think it may refer to the fact that the athorities haven’t any clues and even the searchers are in the dark. It was very clever. Thatks, FLF!

Thanks for the clarification MC and FLF. Even with years in SAR this one didn’t make sense without the story line.

Ditto on the thanks. Now the cartoon makes perfect sense. Kudos to those searchers!
