    At 71 I try to spend at least 1/3 of the day out of the bed. Nout counting the bathroom trips.

    Try sitting up for 24 or 48 hours, back to back, without eating anything and see if you get tranquilized. One thing I miss about being a kid is the inability to fight sleep. You could just nod off anytime anywhere.
