    To be specific, every time he had a working restaurant going, external factors would force him to close shop. For example, his first facility was attached to a gas station, and when a bypass was built that took all of the traffic away from the road he was on.

    He eventually moved westward after his repeated failures, and finally convinced a joint up in Utah to license his cooking technique and recipes.
