THANK YOU, SO VERY TRUE!!!!! Last year the world collectively spent over $1TRILLION in the global arms trade. There is probably not a country on this planet that does not have a hugh rich/poverty disparity. Until a global effort is produced to collectively remove all the heads of our political leaders from their collective arses this situation will not change. Multinational corporations are the only entities profiting from today’s current malaise! And they’re doing it w/ the protection of the gov’ts that are bankrupting themselves in the global arms race!!!!!!

Scared weak people feel safe with a strong army. I’d rather have freedom.

Amen. Bush bought the war against Iraq and Afghanistan on credit and debt. He borrowed almost a trillion form the Chinese as well to fiance it, so the citizens at home would not get upset making sacrifices for it like their parents did in WW2 with rationing and higher taxes. Bush and all the other presidents understand one thing about the Military Industrial complex and wars—No one really cares how many of our soldiers are killed or maimed in unnecessary conflicts, as long as they do not have to pay higher taxes or sacrifice lifestyles to support it. If the American people were hit in the wallet from the get-go, we would have been out of the sandbox years ago. Its the old frogs in the slowly boiling water trick.

The huge increase in contracting at home to fight the “war on terror” includes a truly horrifying increase in spending, but ah, that’s for PRIVATE CONTRACTORS, those poverty stricken “struggling by” folks like Lockheed Martin, Grumman, and hundreds of other folks. You know, a trillion here, a trillion there, and pretty soon you’re talking REAL money! It isn’t just the “hardware” war fought for your tax dollars, to wage wars on other countries. Of course, “industry” doesn’t seem to care a lot about those costs to take care of our troops and veterans, so take the money away from them and buy the Pentagon some new toys they don’t really need, and don’t know what to do with.

Thank you for this cartoon. War is mostly consumptive so we have nothing to show for it. Had we invested this money in R&D, education, infrastructure, health our people and our economy would be so much better off. Our leaders chose war, and on credit. Immoral, in my opinion.
