Gosh, I’ve been grownup for a very long time! Dad taught me how to fix a toilet when I was 10, I started doing cleanup projects when I was 8, and I’ve told plenty of people “no” (my parents friends don’t discuss politics). Of course, I am female and that might make a difference.
