giving VOLUNTARILY is christlike the state taking it by force which is what taxes are is not being christlike quoting scripture will not change the fact that you are wanting people to do something by force that they should be free to do or NOT do.
No one is asking the rich to give all their money in taxes. That’s a straw man. What we’re asking is that the rich pay their fair share. So far, the Republicans are trying to solve a deficit they created by giving huge benefits to the rich, by dumping it 100% on the poor and middle class. Then they have the gall to call BHO’s plan class warfare. The class warfare has been underway for 30 years, based on the wealth gap data. Now that the middle class has covered everything so far, It’s time to ask the wealthy, for the first time, to contribute to the solution.
This was a message to a particular person, not to all people. Jesus told parables about rich men, and they are often the protagonists, such as this one in Matthew 20:1-16:
1 For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.2 And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.3 And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,4 And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.5 Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.6 And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?7 They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.8 So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.9 And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.10 But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.11 And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house,12 Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.13 But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?14 Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.
So here, we see the rich owner of the vineyard as the proper owner of principle, while the workers (especially the ones who worked all day) are not. This suggests that Jesus was entrepreneurial, and arguably capitalistic, because he was for the right of ownership as a principle of “the kingdom of heaven.”
So much for your assertion that Jesus was a collectivist like you are.
reminds me of the elder Scottish lady who, when exhorted to give more on the grounds that Jesus had asked it of his followers replied, “ah but he was a verra young man when he said that!”
I like honey mustard, but the Teapublicans want most Americans to get the contents of the “honey bucket” (talk to someone who maintains port-a-potties or pumps septic tanks), while only the rich Teapublicans follow like puppy dogs get to keep their steaks, while they continue to think “Burger King” is haute cuisine.
Does anyone under 40 get the grey poupon reference?
Anyway, I agree with the basic principle that the rich and corporations should pay more. But, part of the reason we have a great recession and high a deficit are the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the military industrial complex (useless weapons, overpaid contracts, too many generals).
Very few like to pay taxes, but if you’re going to wage expensive wars, implement drug programs, give concessions to your friends, etc, etc,, the bills have to be paid. You may not like or agree with your government, but you’ve got to dance with who you brung.
the funny part is…Buffet is making a case to keep the rest of us down – he already has his money and if the President gets his way, there will be no NEW rich people. if anyone should throw rocks at Mr. B, it should be us who are working the extra hours with dreams of becoming rich because the President and his allies are shutting the door on us to ever have a chance to become wealthy.

Runnels…….if the wealthy give their money to the poor, they will then be poor. Those that were poor will now be wealthy. Will they then give it back?

Runnels, agree entirely with your comments, but quoting from the King James’ version of the Bible would make it beautiful.

As for this comic, it is rancid propaganda, and those of you who find it an accurate depiction do so simply because you want it to be true.
