Man: And THIS week we observe the tenth anniversary of our country going insane.
Woman: I remember exactly where I was the first time I was aggressively frisked.
sniff
The “country” didn’t go insane, the Federal Government did. It’s been insane for longer than for the past 10 years, and yet, too many people RELY upon it for their hope for the future. It’s a shame that too many also equate “the country” with the centralized big-government system that is responsible for the above depiction. Looking for answers from THAT bunch? Really?
eepatt, mcveigh didn’t commit his act in the name of christianity or jesus, he was a white supremiscist.
however 17 of the 19 hijacker/mass-murderers had mohammad in their name, and i think that’s a fine place to start profiling.
they did it in the name of islam, and, unlike mcveigh, they are not in a minority of ONE. there are millions around the world that feel and act the same as they did. and they are all followers of islam.
“Timmy” cited the “attack” on the RELIGIOUS COMPOUND of David Koresh as his prime motivation, and the government interference in religion, and well, arms dealing.
TSA procedures are still idiotic, and the people in TSA are among the first to admit it. (This includes a friend of my son’s who works as a TSA inspector and TRIES to be “intelligent” in the way he does his job, despite “protocols”)
A friend gets “wanded” and nearly beaten to death every time and now drives to Kansas rather than fly, because she has health problems, and a steel rod implanted in her FOREARM- exactly how do you hide a bomb inside your forearm requiring the agents to keep banging it with their “wands”???
I like flying and have been in several crashes- I don’t fly commercial any more unless absolutely necessary, because TSA procedures are far more stressful than aerobatics, even engine failures!
^danny- I agree, but look at the idiots that put it together after 9/11! Including the additional 33 departments to “shrink government” Bush added to “Homeland Security”.
as to the other element here: Johnson-Reed Act of 1924.
I think this cartoon would have been more accurate if those being frisked were nuns, old women, babies, children, and innocent-looking white-American families. The reason why Muslims are frisked is because they are more likely to commit a terrorist attack on a plane. Pretty simple, no?
^Yammo, I got pulled over, again, on my last flight. this time it was for a hand swab for “explosives”, must have been my DAV life member pin! (with American flag)
You see McVeigh sympathizers here? I just see people sick and tired of the idiotic notion that McVeigh proves there is a Christian equivalent to Islamic Extremist Terrorism.
In real world terms, consider the IRA (Ireland) and ETSEL (Zionists in Palestine) as “instructors” for current Muslim extremist groups. The bombings, the horror and terror tactics were learned FROM these “friendly” Roman Catholics and Jews. Xenophobia goes back to Cain and Able, and how DID “Nod” suddenly appear to provide a spouse and entire culture and social structure for Cain to move into?? Hate seems a lot more universal than love, in religious practices founded in the name of Abraham.
It takes no expertise to see that people who are certain McVeigh was religiously motivated are doing so on no real evidence. So, like believers in alien abductions or the Loch Ness Monster, they cling to coincidence and ignore all evidence and logic to the contrary. The desperation is on the part of those who are trying so hard to prove a moral equivalence between Christian conservatives and Muslim extremist terrorists. Admitting otherwise would clash with their world view.
