    And that makes perfect sense to me. Last summer I gave away four out of six matching chairs.

    Yes, it’s probably for the best. Otherwise one could end up in a little apartment in the city, painted all kinds of… interesting colors, while the other sits at the desk of a writer of very dubious poetry.

    Better they go as a pair.

    Never all that difficult to fix a chair or two if frame is sturdy. I have $600+ chairs from Design Toscano combined with many from resale shops – all used in my multi/dining room. I’d never want a set of matching ones again. The former are most fun with carved lion heads and gargoyles etc, but the others have carved roses and other motifs and all have upolstery in reds.
