Sigh… there’s always millions of gallons of crude oil floating around the ocean naturally. Nobody needs to freak because of what little additions humans contribute.
Sad thing is that it was much worse than it had to be because Obama turned down offers of help from several European companies. They had skimmers that clean oil out of the water that could have been onsite within a week. Obama refused because of the Jones Act (a law that prevents foreign nationals from working ships in US waterways). A 1-time exception could have done wonders. Instead, it took almost 3 weeks for US-crewed skimmers to arrive – too little, too late.
