Mr. Taxpayer should be thrilled because his taxes heavily subsidize the NFL owners and players. Almost all of the stadia in which they play are built by municipalities issuing bonds paid for with local taxpayer dollars. The outrageously priced season tickets are usually owned by businesses which can deduct the cost as a business expense, supposedly for entertaining customers. The owners have a virtual monopoly and rich TV contracts. The players use up their bodies for salaries that seem high to most of us, but are just a pittance for rich, greedy owners. And we all forget that it is really just entertainment.

Okay, once again Drew Litton comments on sports.I would like to mention that the taxpayers just spent millions of $$ to upgrade the luxury boxes for the Tampa Bay Buccanneers, at a time when we can’t afford to pay school teachers or fund PBS.

Which they are just as likely to spend on the next “fun” project, instead of the dirty, smelly, unsexy, not-so-fun projects that actually need to get done.
