They’ve still got bookstores in Frazz-ville?

It’s also true about custodians and math.

Shaz, of course he isn’t. But then I would say that, wouldn’t I?

They already have several copies of The Gashleycrumb Tinies – how about The Curious Sofa or The Hapless Child?

I’m deprived. They kicked me up to algebra and I missed “New Math”.

I love Gorey. I have note book with his alphabet poems in it. 26 words in alphabetical order that actually says something. I bet Frazz’s kids could do something with those.

If he has $120, and Frazz matches it (another $120)…HOW is that $500? New, new, new math???

Noreen, that’s “Songwriter’s Math”, and the whistling sound you’re now hearing is made by the punchline of the strip speeding high over your head.

runar, it could never be The Curious Sofa, because that’s self-admittedly pornographic. If they’ve got Gashleycrumb they already have an alphabet book, or else I’d suggest The Utter Zoo. If it were just for Caulfield I’d recommend The Unstrung Harp as an object lesson in the unspeakable horrors of the literary life…

Runar, I can EASILY imagine some fun scenarios involving TCS, but they all end with Frazz losing his job. Yes, Frazz is interested in “stimulating the children’s imaginations”, but not in THAT direction. I foresee Mrs. Olsen wondering what the kids find so fascinating about it and confiscating it. She would have no more idea what a “Lithuanian Typewriter” is than any of them, but she’d nonetheless conclude that the book is wholly inappropriate. And she’d be right. (The same would go if Coach Hacker found it, and as much as he and Frazz have buddied-up over the songwriting, I imagine he’d “change his tune” if he thought Frazz was providing pornographic picture-books to pre-pubescents.)

Caulfield would be the ONLY one to “get” the joke of the book, and even then I doubt he’d be “mature” enough not to be badly influenced.

The best-case scenario would be that the kids found The Curious Sofa pointless and stupid, because they aren’t old enough to know what they’re supposed to be reading into it. Again, though, Coach Hacker and Mrs. Olson would have no such difficulty.
