If we stop all work and die we could stop the use of oil.

towerwarlock said it better than I could. This is a bigger deal than just partisan politics.

Metacomment: does anyone else see artistic parallels between this comic and the style that Wiley often employes for his Sunday Non Sequiter strip?

Assigning blame is always easier than finding solutions. (It’s the other guy’s fault.)Just once, when someone says we use 20%(it’s usually 25) of the resources for 5% of the population, can someone tell me how much of the world we feed, directly, through aid & sales, & indirectly, through jobs at American companies or factories that make the junk we buy?

Apparently, the word “Blame” is hidden in the spewing oil a little too well. You kinda have to look for it knowing from the text that it is there somewhere. Unlike many of the comments have shown, Anderson does not appear to be knocking the process of drilling. I am sure that the artist owns a car and uses oil also. What he appears to be advocating for is accountability. Instead of passing blame, take responsibility and do the drilling correctly so that no one gets killed and so that the gulfcoast economies don’t tank.

In part I agree with tower troll, we HAVE had the answers to conserve fuel to a very high degree since the early 1960’s, but the people drilling those holes, and digging those mines, would have lost profit, so they KILLED all technology that cost them. Today’s fuel mileage “increases” are just going back the old days, with cleaner burning engines to boot. There will never be truly “clean” coal for fuel, combustion byproduct isn’t even as dangerous as the “dirty” way of getting at coal that destroys vast ecosystems.

    greed isn’t renewable, it’s a constant.

Ever thought, people that that oil is in the ground and not getting anywhere? Whats the rush to burn it all right now?

I,m not saying “necessity”, as it should be, “Drill, Baby, Drill” is really the words of someone in a rush to burn all that oil.
