Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for May 07, 1992
Transcript:
Calvin: Here's an interesting article. The top five gum brands are compared in terms of flavor retention, elasticity, bubble capacity and chewing rebound. The computer graph shows the results, compensating for various saliva acidities. If you know your pH, this really helps you choose the proper gum for your chewing style. Hobbes: What kind of nut would care about all this?! Calvin: Everyone! This is hard data! It lets you quantify your enjoyment! Hobbes: I thought fun was supposed to be fun. Calvin: Well I prefer to trust the experts.

I know how to help him in school. When he gets to Data in Math, tell him he needs to know this for him to really understand the data from the graphs in the Magazine!
However, it might backfire, and he might hate gums for the rest of his life.
Good both ways, in my opinion!
