Too bad adults aren’t that easily pleased! Little kids are always thrilled with the box, no matter WHAT came in it!

For some reason, boxes can entertain children for hours

“What a rip-off!” That was my reaction after reading The Cuckoo Clock of Doom, by R. L. Stine, when Michael Webster doesn’t bring his little sister Tara back at the end, and Harry Potter, by J. K. Rowling, when Hermione turns out to be more useful than Harry himself. It was also my reaction to the 1989 Disney adaptation of The Little Mermaid, after I read the original fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen (for instance, in the Disney adaptation, her sisters don’t make any attempt to help her).

Calvin thought he could fly with a beanie? Yeah, right! Beanies aren’t supposed to make you fly, the propeller’s just for show. And even if it was, he’s too heavy to fly.

Calvin: ARE YOU SAYING I’M FAT?!Hobbes: No, but you could also still have bricks in your pockets.
