The European Union is helping Greece. We need to do away with the cap on Social Security and Medicare contributions, Negotiate prices for drugs in Medicare D and keep those programs going for future seniors.

Obama went overseas this last week and offered to send USA money to the Greek government……money the USA does not have unless more dollars are printed.

to correct darkforce…from Jan.2009 todate Obama has increased the debt 32% from $10.6 Trillion to $14.2%…unemployment from 7.6% to 9.4% (up 23.7%)and people in Poverty from 39,800,000 to 43,600,00 (up 9.5%)

stop blaming the GOP which is not responsible for 3 years of Democrat congress and Obama administration anti-economy policies and decisions—-!

    @Spaghettus1Check here: http://www.miseryindex.us/URbyyear.asp?StartYear=1948&EndYear=2010

Even if you take into account that the unemployment rate rose to 7.2% towards the end of Bush’s final year in office, what does it say that unemployment trended downward until 2008? Also, who was fighting Bush every step of the way that year? Are you going to say that the Democrats in charge of the Senate and Congress had nothing to do with it?

Now, since B.O. has been in charge unemployment has surged upward, and he’s doing NOTHING to change that trend. On the contrary, he’s doing everything possible to create an atmosphere that is hostile towards the creation of wealth and opportunities for anyone, besides speculators on Wall Street.

When will you people understand that for all of the “change” that was bandied about in 2008, in reality Obama simply took all of the worst aspects of the Bush presidency and injected them with steroids. Bush was a progressive Republican. Obama is a progressive Democrat. WHERE IS THE “CHANGE?”

The boat is just another example of Cheney’s “sharpshooting”— note the failure of Halliburton/KBR to profit, while others are losing their shirts. Of course how much is Newt helping out the Greek economy? Or is he just running up another tab on vacation?

Impressive that you are still here, DorkFarce/Hoser8. I had $100 that said you off’d yourself after that election. Keep up the good work and dramatize your ideology. We need to keep our eye on the ball in 2012, and you help. More than you’ll ever know.

We borrow money from people who hate us(China)to give it to people who hate us if we don’t lend them money(Greece)to perpetuate a failed socialist state in a failed socialist Europe. Oblahblah has already doubled our debt and is merrily pissing away more as fast as his feeble mind will allow. We’re doomed!

The Dumont a french hospital? We, acadians have been calling the Moncton City Hospital “L’hopital anglais” for as long as I can remember, so what? The language things are to be taken liberally when it comes to Moncton’s hospitals; the Dumont was founded by catholic, french-language nuns (as you didn’t find many lay nurses in french canada back then) while the Moncton City Hospital were founded by protestants. It started out mainly as a religion thing!I worked there and there is no way an english-speaking patient would be denied care at the Dumont because of his language, I presume it’s the same with an acadian patient going to “l’hopital anglais”

@Svenskabbru: “At least the rest of Canada is waking up to realize the emptiness of Socialism.”

To several of you posters who think Canada took a hard turn to the right in the recent election, not really.

The Conservatives have been in power since 2006. 2011 they increased seats by 23 to give a slim majority, which was a 16% increase in seats.

But the NDP, the so-called socialist party, increased seats from 37 to 103 to become the official opposition, a 178% increase.

Does this mean anything? Probably not, popularity shifts back and forth largely due to the popularity of individuals within the party, how long they’ve been in power, and how many dumb things they’ve recently done.

    dtp:

Sorry you missed my point. The manure is not your “facts”, but a reference to the hand dealt Obama by the circumstances that preceded his coming into office.

With the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression dropped into his lap, millions unemployed, tax revenues down, and two wars underway (the first of which should have been concluded, the second never started), it is wholly unremarkable that the national debt would have grown, and othe indicators you have cited would have gotten worse.

Spending when you “have it” on the wars and tax benefits to the wealthy, make it darned hard to save when you don’t. A larger deficit funding a massive rebuilding of our infrastructure would have been preferable to the weak stimulus we tried.

Broaden your scope. Check out sites such as zfacts. Interesting historical background on our debt, and how to deal with lean times.
