I was talking to a class of sixth grade students yesterday, about the Sixties and how it seemed the war was never going to end…..it occurred to me that Iraq and Afghanistan have been going on longer…We’ve been at war since they were in a crib…..
Peace is poor planning. You never know when you’ll need a force of combat hardened veterans to defend your existence. We need to keep a fairly intense conflict going somewhere to have sufficient training for when the need arises. The Taliban understands, that’s why they made such valuable allies against the Soviets.
