I really hate to say this, but I kind of agree with Bucky on the last one …

I don’t think raisins are good for dogs. And to the best of my knowledge judging from my cat’s reaction to them, cats won’t touch them.

@Larry: Bucky’s supposed to be on a diet — he’s overweight.

Diet catfoods are heavy on corn and other cereals because the cat’s system, being an obligate carnivore, doesn’t digest them. The stomach is “filled” without providing nutrition, so the standard joke is that they will consume their body fat. Except if you don’t feed a cat he just lies around conserving energy…and giving you hell till you stump up with the goodies!

Styrofoam, tofu; same thing, pretty much, right? I much prefer the cornstarch based packing peanuts for a lite snack…

puppybreath is absolutely correct. Raisins (and grapes), among some other foods are toxic to dogs. ROB would know this, but I’m guessing Darby is still not a dog owner. On the other hand, most dogs don’t stand upright, hold (or make) bowls of oatmeal, and talk. So I guess we can assume that Satchel is not your typical dog and thus raisins may not hurt him.

Hi – I hate to be picky but I think raisins are very bad for dogs and cats.

A food so bad they had to give it a name that sounded like a martial art to get people to try it…

Darby had a dog, Spot, and he obviously is experienced with fur-tyrants. The vegetable and non-food thing is a running gag in his books. I love the vegetarian cat of Rob’s mom.

I absolutely love that, “Oatmeal is a grain, grains are grass, grasses are nature’s latrine” Tofu – “An IQ test. And you failed it” … I think Rob just enjoys hearing Buckster’s ideals. he entertains them for his own amusement. No wonder he keeps him around. lol.

Actually, Bucky’s right. Cats are obligate carnivores; their digestive systems CANNOT function on plant matter. Satchel is literally trying to kill him.

Raisins are toxic to dogs…cause renal failure. All you dogs out there, please do not follow Satchel’s example.
