LOVE the eye-popping. Good thing hair grows back….well, not for me but for her.

When my daughter was 3 I had just read some family magizne article that suggested that every child at that age will try to cut their hair so I was forewarned, amused, and I loved the “fixed” version…..her mother cried like a baby.

I don’t remember my girls cutting their own hair but I do remember them cutting their dolls hair.

Wonder if mom did show/will show the same restraint. Nah, I diidn’t think so. My younger brother cut his own hair once, which cured me of wanting to do the same to myself. Mom yelling and laughing at the same time was her finest moment.

It’s a little odd for Katy to use the wrong word! That’s something I’d expect from Adam…

My dad was a barber. I had a haircut every 2 weeks – Short two weeks. Then college in the ROTC. Graduated and spent 9 years in the Navy. Finally I said I would never wear short hair again. Went 20 years that way. My second wife says she loves short hair. We’ve been married 10 years. My hair has been short 9 years, 11 months, and 2 weeks. This is my Short story; I hope you liked it.

I never tried to cut my own hair because I saw what happened to other kids when they did it.

I was born with dark red (not carrot-top red) curly hair. By the time I was about 2, it was fairly long and wavy, and back in those days, not very mannish (or boyish). So one day my uncle took his electric clippers and gave me a buzz cut. My mother never forgave him. Now, much of my hair has turned. Some of it has turned grey, more of it has turned loose. The ones that have hung on, even if they have turned grey are being rewarded by not having to submit to haircuts (after 31 years of military regulation cuts). After 4 years, my ponytail is down to the middle of my back. I keep threatening to cut it and go for the business style cut, or to the cueball style I wore while playing in the sandbox, but my lovely female accomplice says she likes it long. Who am I to argue?

In high school, I cut my bangs because we couldn’t afford professional stylists. Bad thing was that I cut them wet at just the length I wanted them. When my hair dried, my bangs stuck straight out from my forehead. Oh the misery!
