Once again, he’s got no reason to be there, it’s not an official investigation. I like the drawing of OneEye Jack

What is that creepy thing over DT’s shoulder??

OEJ’s shirt/moo moo has a different print than a few days ago. http://www.gocomics.com/dicktracy/2009/03/29/

So…..Tess’ question remains unanswered. Did Tracy buy an iPhone?

Tracy have many suspect and this is an obvious reason for an investigation. This is my opinion.

I guess the gun in the first panel doesn’t have a trigger?

    Grokenstein says:

The head of panel one’s Dick looks like it’s pieced together from two completely different heads–one large (everything below the nose), and one tiny (the nose up).

THAT’S what happens when you don’t plan your panel out carefully and run out of room and try to squeeze in the whole head, rather than crop it … I see it all the time with people doing figure drawing, they start at the feet and by time they get to the head they are nearly out of paper and they compress it all to fit!!!

I’m definitely going to go ahead with the drawing of a week of strips. I’m just waiting to collect four in a row (starting this past Tuesday when I decided to do it) because I want to make sure that any twists (ex: That bald guy may be in the third panel to do some damage in tomorrows strip) are accounted for.

I could probably just go back and pick 7 in a row and go from there, but I kind of like seeing a new strip and wondering how I would have done it.

Carlo , there is one little problem . Where is the crime ? The only crime so far is the kidnapping of B.O. and Tracy does not know it so far . The only crime I see , is publishing this story .

Question . Who bought the Ipod ?

looking forward to it , kerowack…. be sure to post where to see it……get one done and post it asap , I want to see what you’ve got! Ive read her that our ‘sigh’ guy was a credible cartoonist, but I never saw any of his work.

I’ll be working on them this weekend. I’ve got grading to do today and tomorrow and Friday I’m doing set design for a play.

I’m just curious to see if people want my best version of Goulds take or if I should put my own spin on things….

Panel one represents something that’s been frustrating me for a long time, and perhaps someone can enlighten me.

Where is Dick aiming? He is either aiming at the groin of a small statue nearby, or he is aiming at someone else, while OneEyeJack stands in the distance.

This happens a lot in the strip. Is it just the way it’s drawn? It hardly ever appears that Dick is aiming at the proper target, nor does he appear to be looking at it. In this case, he is looking about 90 degrees to the left of OneEyeJack.

Is this because of limited space, and that it’s not possible to see the proper perspective, or that we shouldn’t see the back of Dick’s head, while he properly aims?

Is OEJ flush with success? Dam straight! Time to call a spade a spade, Tracy. What the deuce!

I still can’t figure out how Big Ace (assunibg we ever see hin again) hopes to make a big profit by giving away millions of dollars.

Has anyone noticed the hand holding the gun in panel 3 doesn’t belong to Dick? It’s wearing a different colored coat and seems to be attached to someone standing behind him.

Yeah, panel 3 does look like T has a back up. The shading is like Dick’s half-mask, overdone. Cross hatching some would be an improvement. It is good to see, however, Dick’s nose healed up some from yesterday.

(I heard the other day that someone should defend this strip and Locher. So here I go.)

    Lay off…will ya?

There are a lot of good things about this strip. The fact that villains have their faces shrouded in darkness…this gives them away easily and it also adds to the mystery (okay, ignore the last bit - that was a long shot anyway).

And the stuff that you “imagine” (like dark jacket arm in the third panel, no trigger in first etc.) is really your collective disbelief. So quit yer bellyaching and enjoy the strip. I really like the tough police talk in the last panel. Good going.

(Not sure if I can do this everyday, but I’ll give it my best shot)

The last panel looks as if the right arm on Tracy’s overcoat has been torn off. I think the guy draws this bad just so he can come to this site to read all the critical comments!

mrbribery “can’t figure out how Big Ace hopes to make a big profit giving away millions of dollars” (?)

Well, “Groc” gave one possibility yesterday (3rd to last post). But almost every way “assumes” that there are several retarted players or clones of B.O. Plenty playing in the Casinos. And ALL that “win” will keep their money at “HOME”!

We get similar silly assumptions all the time in Dick Tracy, and when asked for an “explanation” Locher will likely say: “Oh! It’s just a comic strip”. As if by saying so, somehow it makes everything easily understandable!

Put another way, that’s a fudge for “lazy’ story writing.

No, Sydney. A jackpot payout is not a loss- it;s a business expense. The casino would have to report a net loss to the IRS, which would get it red-flagged immediately since casinos are very profitable. Also, they couldn’t save enough taxes to make up for the money they gave away.

That’s the trouble with all the ideas people have mentioned. Yes, they could steal all the money back, but they would just (at very best) break close to even.
