So sorry pax101. My lab is 12 and doing great, but I am dreading the day. I have had two other dogs, one of whom I had to put down and it is a tough experience, but someone, who is usually crass made the best comment on the day I had my dog put to sleep. He said “You know I wish I had that option for myself”. And it’s true. When I got up the morning of the last day of my dog’s; life, I knew it was time. I knew she was miserable. And while I still burst into tears when the vet put her to sleep, I knew that I had spared her misery. I am sorry for the emptiness that comes with your loss, but you did what needed to be done and you enjoyed the company of a good companion.

The pain we feel when we lose a beloved pet is the price we pay for all the love we recieved while they where in our lives.
