The Republicans DON’T HAVE a health care proposal…they like the status quo, the profiting from pain and suffering of the less fortunate.

Why is it that each comic this week has generated an onslaught of political comments when sometimes it’s just amusing to read the comic and go on with your day?

Be fair. The Republicans have put up many proposals. The Democrats just don’t like any of them.

Profit: the money one getsfor ones investment and risk

No profit: no investment and risk

Leaches for medicine: Nor risk or investment.

You mean it’s wrong to expect a profit if I take a risk on a new drug?

Again the straw dog argument that if you don’t like too much government, you are automatically against all government. Government has a place, just not everyplace! The key is finding the right balance between protection and liberty, To each his own.

dont you know the law of the land? it is not the responsibility of the government to make sure that everyone is asured of anything that is why our ancestors built this country all by helping one another at every turn of the road. what i mean is if anything happen everyone would join in and repair the problem without any government help. now everyone stands around with their hands out just because they believe that they are supposed to. f d r did a good job.

The only thing missing in Wiley’s strip is the sharks from the health insurance companies. And, Lewreader, there’s nothing wrong with an honest profit. There is something terribly and immorally wrong with OBSCENE profits gauged out of the backs of hard-working Americans and their families!

beaniebones: just who get to define “obscene” profit? When drug manufacturers and oil companies make 1-2% profit everyone calls it obscene because the volume is so high. When a software manufacturer makes 35-40% profit (or more) no one says a word. In my opinion, it’s not the total dollars but the percentage that makes it obscene.

The whole healthcare debate is incredibly complex, and can’t be argued in anything less than several pages of high controversial and analytical arguments from both sides. I don’t have a firm enough understanding of either the current system, or the Constitution, or the proposed health care plans (over 1000 pages?). Neither, do I believe, do cable news stations.

As such, I’ll read the comic, and maybe go read up on such a debate and try to form my own opinion, instead of smashing my opinion into a comment on gocomics.

It may be “just a comic” but Wiley made it as a political statement, and it’s fair game. If you laugh and go on, you’re not paying attention.

Oh PLEASE! I read the funnies to get AWAY from this nonsense! I’m sure lifeguards all over the country are finding it very interesting to learn they are now considered “health care providers.” Disgusting. Please just give me a laugh and stop cramming Obamamania down my throat at the breakfast table.

Anything I can do poorly, the government can do even worse, and tax you for it. That being said, it isn’t like there are many honest private medical providers that are there purely for helping the sick.

As opposed to OBSCENE political profits to lobbyists in the form of pork and earmarks from hard working tax payers?

    EXACTLY!!!

I am responsible for me. I do not want some jerk in D.C. telling me how to run my life. I do not want much government and sure do not wish to pay for it. I can decide what insurance I want just as I can decide whether I want to go swimming or not.

Or have we become such crybabies that we can no longer fend for ourselves?

    Shame.

Hey Kevin, the Republicans have 53 proposals, but they can’t get out of the Democrat run committee. As to the public option? that is just another word for single payer, which is actually 300 million payer. And Dracip, we care that is why ERs treat anybody that comes in regardless of ability to pay.

Eric Cantor, when confronted with a woman who was having serious health problems, told her that she should sell all of her material possessions to pay for her care. When she ran out of money, she could get on MedicAid. When that ran out, she should find charity. THAT is the Republican plan for health care. (The amendments in committee are not a coherent plan; they’re a grab bag of attempts to water down meaningful reform and, if they can delay it long enough, kill it outright.)
