China is in the process of regaining the position it held in the world economy prior to the middle of the 19th century. If the country’s leaders can avoid war - a mistake they haven’t made since Deng’s little adventure in Vietnam in 1979 - they should be able to make it - that is, if someone else doesn’t pull the plug on H sapiens sapiens as a whole….
