The truly sad part is that a hoax captivates all the press, and the daily disappearance, or murder, of kids, AND adults across the nation, only gets seconds, if that, of exposure.
What DOES determine a “newsworthy” death, homicide, kidnapping, rape, incest event, tragedy, OR triumph! of human activity?
While motive does have it right on most “missing kids”, exactly what does the media, or our society, regard as our duty as “my brother’s keeper”?
In America, it is merely a matter of what is profitable. How typically “Christian”(well, “biblical”) of us! Which is perhaps why other beliefs, not devoted to self-righteous and self-serving hypocrisy might be more valid?
Most children that make the national news are usually from families of the Caucasian persuasion. This is not a racist comment! This is the truth.
Kaylee Anthony, Jonbenet Ramsey, Elizabeth Smart, and Adam Walsh as well as ballon boy are perfect examples of the type of children that are constantly on the main stream media’s air waves.
This, of course, is not only limited to children. There was also the missing chick in Aruba and the Model chick killed by that scumbag who committed suicide.
I don’t want to say white america, but these are the only people on display when it comes to national media attention. I know that Asian girl who was murdered on campus got her 15 seconds of fame, but no one is talking about a suspect, motives, etc. in detail like they did the above people mentioned earlier.
And no, I’m not downplaying the tragedies that took place with these people. A crime is a crime and the guilty should be punished for their evil deeds.

Most of the “missing children” were kidnapped by one of their own parents, usually because of a divorce where someone was losing their kids.

There seems to be alot of concern voiced before a child is born and after it dies, how about we have the same amount of concern while it is alive.
