Lalas, at the time they were announced, the CIA said they had reliable info. It wasn’t until much later they were disproved.
Let me guess, you also think 9/11 was a vast government conspiracy.
NoCarolina, the WMDs were NEVER announced by anybody. Every person in the Bush administration who believed there was no credible evidence of WMDs was silenced and kept out of meetings. It’s all documented, it’s been researched, you can read the books by the journalists who did the research, got the records, talked to the principals. Cheney, Tenet and Bush knew what they wanted to do from the first month Bush took office. They even had a strategic plan to invade Iraq and topple Sadaam Hussein brought before the National Security Council meeting in the first 30 days of the administration.
Remember uranium yellow cakes from Niger? Remember Joe Wilson? Remember Valerie Plame? Remember the “enrichment tubes” that weren’t?
Inform yourself. if you don’t, you’re part of the dumbing down of America.
Only one I remember is Joe Wilson. When the rest happened, I didn’t pay attention to news. Didn’t really care.
Recently, I’ve been (attempting) to do a whole lot of research on various subjects, so as to be more informed.
I agree Bush was a moron on quite a few points… but I wouldn’t go so far as to say that Bush orchestrated 9/11 and Afghanistan.
LOL… NC… go educate yourself and THEN come back and spout off.
Of course the CIA said that… they were in cahoots w/ W & Co. Google “downing street memo” If I knew the Iraqis didn’t have a pot to p!ss in… then the CIA did too.
You not caring in 2003 is a travesty. You should have cared about getting into a war you navel-gazing twit! Jingoistic Americans were all on the bandwagon refusing to ask any serious questions. Willing to ignore all the dissenters getting fired for speaking truth.
Bush did orchestrate the war in Afghanistan… seriously, keep up.
While you’re at it google PNAC restoring america’s defenses. Open the PDF and then search for “Pearl harbor” they knew what they wanted to do and what it would take for the idiot public to go along with it.
NorthCarolina, thanks for responding. If you’re interested in learning about the Iraq war/Afghanistan/CIA intelligence, I can recommend some books. I wanted to learn more too; I wanted to understand how my country ended up starting a war that turned out to be based on such false reasons.
As far as 9/11, I don’t believe 9/11 was a big conspiracy, if that’s what you’re asking. There is very credible evidence that some very specific intelligence was coming in that was not followed up on. Personally, I don’t fault Bush for that. There was most definitely failures of our intelligence agencies, some because of turf issues between FBI and CIA, but mostly it falls at the feet of the CIA.

If I see one more cartoon use that stupid balloon as a platform to make some lame commentary, I am going to throw myself into a thresher.
