Roger: Well, sweetie, we've finally caught up with the rest of the world and have now seen "Titanic." I've got to say, for a three-hour flick, that was pretty good. Andy: "Pretty good"?! "Pretty good"?! The most moving, exciting, wonderful, heart-wrenching, touching, romantic, powerful, eye-opening, tragic, perfect love story I think I've ever seen and you think it's just "Pretty good"?!?! Roger: Uh-oh. Andy: I'm not sure I want to go home with you tonight, Roger.

Love story? Doesn’t she cheat on her fiance? If she doesn’t love him, then leave him.

Rose was engaged to Cal. the marriage between them would solve Rose’s family’s money problems. She then cheated on her fiance with some drifter, had happyhappyfuntime in a parking lot with him, and in the end everybody died.
Now that’s a love story… (=

I went to another “great romance”, The Widow of Saint-Pierre https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Widow_of_Saint-Pierre , with two other single guys and two couples. We rogue males had a good time, not taking the movie too seriously (e.g. a main character has been condemned to be executed, but everyone likes him so they want him to escape, but he keeps coming back). We got to the end, the lights came up, and the two women with us were glaring at us for being unromantic.

According to Bill Amend, this series of strips was inspired after watching a talk show starring James Cameron and all these women gushing about the movie Titanic.

I’ve been told that when one of my older cousins was about 5, Titanic was her favorite movie. She’d watch it repeatedly every day. She knew she wasn’t allowed to watch the “draw me like your French girls” scene, though, so when that part came on she’d cover her eyes and say “Mom, come fast forward the movie!”
