In this day and age, teachers are there to stifle creativity, and encourage conformity.

Not that it’s the teachers’ fault, Incredible: they have to answer to the bureaucracy of the system. Teachers today don’t have much control over what they can and can’t do.

Too bad that some of the teachers are about as smart as a box of rocks. The teachers teaching them weren’t much to brag about either. It seems that all that cheating that is rampant is finally catching up to our children’s education. Just call me a pessimist about the education system in this country. Sorry for the rant.

My sons never had that problem in school - I homeschooled them, and didn’t care what they wore as long as they covered the “essentials”. Homeschool encourages creativity, in both the students and the teacher!

When we grew up and went to school, there were certain teachers, who would hurt the children in any way they could, By pouring their derision upon anything we did, Exposing every weakness, however carefully hidden by the kids,

Teach to the test, if it isn’t on the test it doesn’t get taught. Creativity isn’t on the test, it’s not encouraged, you might learn to think for yourself and then were would we be?

I agree. Let’s hope all the investment the President is talking about end up in the right place, namely with the teachers and children. Also, I still think he should have a chat with Ms. Wormwood. They might have a lot to talk about.

Wrong genre, Dean. Perhaps MST3K or Dr. Who?

Huh. I went to a public school and it didn’t suck THAT much. The parts that did suck had less to do with the teachers and more to do with my classmates…I don’t remember a single teacher staunching my creativity. My classmates, on the other hand…
