    Oh… hullo, everybody!

We’re heading over to Eloise and Gene’s house, to post our comments on

the June 10th  2018 “CLEO and COMPANY”

Which you can read on Sherpa

    http://www.comicssherpa.com/site/feature?uc_comic=cscwy

    Eloise keeps a beautiful house.

You can tell she appreciates the niceties.

It’s very comfortable there…. and I heard she’s baking cookies.

I’m told she makes them in quite elegant, fancy shapes and flavors…

    I’m looking forward to that!

(Though…. and please don’t say anything she might hear….. I doubt they could taste as good as the ones Montana Lady brought yesterday….

    Mmmm…. thanks, ML!)

When you meet Gene, you might be surprised….

he’s quite different from Eloise….. and never one to stand on formality….

or maybe you could say he does… since he stands on the the formal-looking furniture.

He pretty much marches to his own beat.

    But don’t worry…. he’s actually quite relaxed and easy-going.

They look like an odd couple….

You wonder how she tolerates his shoes on the love seat and his mess in the bathroom…

and how he gets along with a person who follows all the rules.

But one thing you notice right away about Eloise….

she’s very…. what word to we use nowadays?

We used to say “well bred”…. but it sounds a little…. well, you know…. wrong, today.

In any case… she was brought up to be polite, and gracious, and to make everyone comfortable.

And Gene, though informal, is the essence of kindness.

I asked her one time, when I was cutting her hair, if she knew the secret to their long marriage…

and she said, as though it were a surprising question,

“Maybe it’s just that we’re nice to each other.”

A lesson I think many couples could profit by.

Anyway, back on the island, the Cliffords are at the whim of the tradewinds, but somehow we know they will end up in Cleveland, City of Magic.

No, you will never live this down!

Oh no, Cleo…. you’ve done it now!

You’re not supposed to poke a hole in it!

You’re supposed to float away on the island breezes …. till you light gently in Cleveland.

not zoom all over the sky in crazy zig-zags till the balloon is a limp, empty bag, and you fall into the ocean.

Besides…. now you’ll be leaking words all over the place!

I’ve heard that leaks are a big problem.

    Meanwhile….

Oooh Montana lady that sounds great!

    Thank you!

And Dennis…no, I think his “hair” looks dark cos he’s wearing some sort of hat….

It kinda looks like maybe an old leather motorcycle cap, a la Marlon Brando…. only with a chin strap. and worn backwards.

And I thought that thing tied to his stick was a balloon….. (coincidentally, in re Cleo).

Cos he’s got some sort of ragged ribbon tied to it as well.

But, like you…. I sometimes see things wrong this late at night.

BTW I answered you on the newer Ballard St, about right-clicking images to view them full size.

    Hope you see it.

pretty risky puncturing a hole in a word balloon and hoping the wind doesn’t blow them away….But if you can’t trust Cleo, who can you trust?hmmmmmm, let me rephrase that….

I guess Cleo’s nails needed clipping in Cleveland.
