Doc!!!!Football - Guys in tight pants bend over and display their back sides between playing with a weirdly shaped ball. They also like to make big body piles, getting up close and personal with each other.

was she? i don’t believe it. When you offer something to someone, it’s generally because there’s something wrong with it, so anyone you offered that to would be suspicious and refuse ur offer. Oh, hi and nice to meet u, MisngNOLA!
montanalady, all I’m saying is i never get to put up brekfast because I end up in bed at 11:30, and it wont even be that once school starts, but tonight my friends are coming over and they like to stay up till like 3 a.m. so i’ll be able to post, and u probably have a bunch of chances to stay up. So, all i’m saying is i’d really like to do it just once.
jarlyddie - This is somthing you need to pick according to what you like most. I’m in my 50’s and probably don’t share your tastes. Others here might be better if you want them to help. The first two seem nice but I personally don’t care for the third one but that’s because I dpn’t care for graffiti. I hope you will enjoy whatever you choose!
As you can see everyone has their own opinion. I hope those here can heip if you want. As people come on during the day they may check it out and let you know what they think. Good luck!
what is this feetsball of which you speak, Grog?
Is game played with feets, no? Does you throws them, or maybe keecks them, yes?
and what of this ball? Do you need to hit it with the feets, yes?
Hi ♠Lonewolf♠ - Of about 30 GB I only have 4.3 GB left to back up. It should be finished when I get up in the morning and I can reboot the laptop and get everything working again. I hope you and James have a good time together!
(hysterical giggling) It’s the ima…… (deep breath, bursts into laughter) the image of them… (cackling laughter) run… (gulping deep breaths) running down the (bursts of laughter) down the field with their danglies (rolling on the floor laughing) danglies bouncing. (renewed bursts of laughter) Oh! I can’t breath! (rolling on the floor laughing and pounding fists)
Thanks Grog - I’ll watch it then. Believe it or not one of our local station’s web site (for a major network) doesn’t even show the program listing anymore from the national broadcast. It just says movie, sports, to be announced etc. so I don’t know what’s going to be on that channel!
Hi, & thanks, Sojo! I can’t take credit for that one, as you can tell by the copyright. It did say as long as the picture was unaltered, I could use it. It does remind me of going to Kruger Park & trying to spot the animals. Interesting tidbit - that picture was taken on a private game preserve right next to Kruger park, and no fences in-between the two, so the animals can go back & forth. But leopards aren’t seen often in Kruger, because they like to hide, and visitors to Kruger must stay on the main (paved) roads.
Rmom - I found out how hard it is to spot leopards when I got the Animal Planet network and watched a lot of the Big Cat Diaries. The African photos I posted has a large tree with a leopard in it showing how hard is is to see it.
He catches the ball and makes a dash for the endzone. Here comes the other team! (Bouncy! Bouncy! Bouncy!) Oh! Look out! Tackle! You can’t even see the catchy guy for all the bodies! Now we have both teams on the ground. Oww! That has got to hurt!
Done with work. Now getting decent clothes on and I’m off to get James from football practice, get something to eat and then head out to pool league playoffs.
And here I thought I’d be on easy street with Wolfangil out of town!
Grog I heard about the heavy rain and tornadoes in Texas That was quite a bit of damage and flooding, from what I saw on the news. Wasn’t it in Dallas? I don’t remember, because I was in a hurry this morning.
I’m not for either team but am for Brett Favre so I guess that makes me favor the Vikings. (Also my cousin traced my family tree back to 300 AD to who might be considered the first king of the Vikings sort of.)
Yes, south of Dallas and North around the Red River area as I understand it. I didn’t get much of it this morning, either and I had a very busy day, Little Sister
Why does that not surprise me, Doctor Toon? I haven’t seen a game televised, but I’m sure there are leagues. Though there can’t be much to look at with all that padding & helmets.
Sojourner, I’m happy watching the games from the comfort of my home - particularly since I refuse to watch the Texans, and I can’t travel to Dallas every week-end either.
Grog - I saw KU games when I went there and have gotten to watch OU and OSU. Most of my relatives were OSU grads. I haven’t gone out of my way to see them but the atmosphere is a lot different than watching it on TV.
Sojo - I’ve only got my family tree back to 900AD. Strong suspicion that ancestors in Normandy were Vikings. Does “Torf Seigneur de Torville” sound like one of your ancestors?
Hi, Grog!Sojo - I agree that watching a football game in person is more exciting. I went to a few of WSU’s games back when they still had a team, and at least a couple times to OU games back in Barry Switzer days.
Sojourner, I went to college games when I lived in Montreal. I’ve even been to NFL games while living there in Foxboro, New Orleans, Dallas and Cleveland. I haven’t been to one since leaving Montreal. Games are getting far too pricey for my liking and players may end up striking in 2011.
Rmom - That dosen’t ring a bell with me. Geneology was something my cousin got into when he was in college. Has worked on it for decades. As he was a teacher he sometimes spent entire summers doing research and went to England and found some things. I don’t remember the mans name, I think it was 5 letters long. It was actually before the Vikings. At that time it was all seperate villages and he organized them together and led them. They turned into the Vikings latter. I think that was 65 generations before me.
Grog - I’ve never been to a pro game except for indoor soccer. That isn’t anything near like football etc. but we had a good team here. It’s fast pacced like hockey and was very exciting to watch.
SOJO and Rmom...My older sister has traced our tree back only to 1500’s. I am primarily English, Scots, with some mixture of German and French and 1/32 Cherokee. We were here for the revolution and had family members involved in that. My Dad’s Mother came to USA from Bothwell Scotland when she was 13.
Grog - If I remember right, you’re just a little younger than I am. Aren’t you Doc’s age?
Sojo - I only worked on researching genealogy between our sons’ births. I got lucky in that I found a book with my grandparents’ names in it, that went back to 900AD. Other than that, I’m doing good to have more than a generation before the one that immigrated. (One ancestor came on the Mayflower, and most fairly soon afterwards, so that means several generations back.) At least I think I’ve figured out the country of origin for all of my lines.
I might loss my internet connection, or at least explorer. Although my back-up display quit it’s still uploading. Most of my utilites have quit since I haven’t rebooted all week. As long as it keeps making my backup I won’t turn it off, it should finish tonight.
hope&joy - Mine either came from England (almost all), Holland (Separtists) or Canada when they came here. At least one of my ancestors from Holland was from what is now Belgium. Some of the ones from England had Scot, Irish or French (Normandy, hence Viking) ancestry. So now I just tell people my ancestors are from Western Europe, unless they want more details.
My cousin found a lot of famous people we are related to in the US like Abraham Lincoln. I think everyone can find famous people in their past. When he got it traced to an old blueblood line in Europe there were records that made it easy to trace it back a long way.
My husband’s great-grandfather came from County Cork, Ireland. To get to my most recent immigrant ancestor, I have to go back before the Civil War.
hope&joy - I’ve got the necessary DAR credentials, but never pursued it, as I’m not into snobbery.
Sojo - They say that everyone now living with western European ancestry is descended from Charlemagne. My cousin sent me the genealogical path, but I misplaced his letter. I went surfing, and found some support for that, but I don’t know how to do genealogical research on-line to do a decent job. It is interesting, but I’ve got other things I’d rather spend my time working on.
Rmom - It is interesting. As that is my mother’s side of the family I have thought of researching my father’s side. It doesn’t mean that much to me though and would take to much time.
Rmom I know what you mean about the snobbery bit…and they seem rather “limited” as well..however, my nephew used the credentials to get into the SAR and also Sons of the Confederacy on my oldest sister’s husband’s side…I have no Confederacy connections but did have relatives living in Canada a couple of generations back in Montreal area…another group in Ontario and are still there.
I am older than a lot here, I think and Doc Toonis in his middle 40’s as is my son. I am right at 70 which astonishes me!!
Rmom as you know, the Scots and Irish were always skipping back and forth. I used to be an Irish auburn but I think the Scots have the auburn color too. Anyway the color came from my Mom.
My cousin didn’t just trace the family tree but tried to find out what he could about the people. He found out that it seems like Lincoln had an American flag tattooed on his chest.
I’ve shared my info with my cousins, but the only one who cared to spend time researching is my “as sharp as a ball bearing” brother, so his research didn’t add to the info I already had. (He’ll look at names in phone books in England, rather than researching records from the time frame our ancestors were there.)
I thought I’d get into it while teaching history, but that work would be going in the opposite direction to the way we studied that subject. (We went from Creation forward, not from today backwards.) But I did put up the family tree info along with the history timeline, so it made European history more interesting. For instance, we figured out which side of the “War of the Roses” our ancestors were on. At least one of our ancestors participated in the Norman invasion, on the winning side. (Built Warwick Castle.) So, the genealogy was helpful in making history seem more real.
SOJOI think your right about the connection to Charlemagne as another family member has us traced back to him (but not proven) with the smatterings of obligatory royalty hither and yon.
Somehow it would seem the Flag tattoo would be mentioned more. I have read several books on Lincoln and have not come across this info.
Also, through our history, we got hooked on reading the “Brother Cadfael” books, and I read the whole series to the family. After we’d read them all, I checked some of the movies out from the library. Really neat for the period costumes, etc. However, the movie had a different villain than one in the book, and the movie villain would have been an ancestor, or at least a traceable cousin, so we were rather offended!
I think the tattoo was suspected from a study of his corpse. They found blue and red dye on his chest that may of been a flag. Not real history material but was maybe a fact.
Good evening all. Best Big Sister I liked your version of football and I’m no football fan. You make it sound more interesting.
Not sure how I would trace my side or hubby’s side of family tree.
Curious question did anyone see Good Morning America after 8am? Just wondering.
I’m just popping briefly. Oh hubby called me at work someone don’t know who broke our son’s driver side window, door locked, and stole a sterio unit out that was fairly new. Hubby did call it in and insurance, then had window replaced. Our son’s car was parked on street like it’s been parked for past 3 years. When we came here 3 years ago our daughter’s guy had his car parked on driveway and this I saw the car as it drove away heard a noise before driving away when morning came there was damaged to both front and back window.
hope&joy - I never made it to Europe, but my parents & sister toured the Warwick castle. Unfortunately, I found out AFTER they came back that Mom’s ancestor built the original Warwick castle. (I think it was of wood, and the stone version was done by a later descendant. Our line doesn’t go through the later descendant, because our line wasn’t the eldest son.) I just found my mom’s pictures of that trip, so I made sure to scan Warwick Castle pictures.
Sojo - I’ve never heard about Lincoln having a tattoo. I’m skeptical, since most Christians back then would not have gotten one.
Hi, Kab! - Nope, don’t watch tv.
I think you are right RMom about the original wood. Amazing we have as many in one piece (stone etc) as we do. Remember the Windsor Castle fire destroyed a lot of the inside…a ceremonial hall if I remember.
Sojo Interesting info. to ponder and more evidence is always showing up on these things.
Sojo - I can’t say I’ve exhaustively researched Lincoln, but I’ve done a fair amount of studying him. Mom used to say we were related to him, because her grandma’s maiden name was Ann Rebecca Hanks. More of my genealogical research proved there was no direct link. All of my Civil War veterans are from the Union side, too. I don’t think any of my ancestors were from Kentucky. (Almost all Yankees - there were some in one of the Carolinas, but by the Civil War, my relatives on that line were in Minnesota!)
Sojo - Sounds like there could have been other explanations besides a tattoo. Just saying from what I know of Christian culture from that era, and that Lincoln was a devout Christian, I’d be surprised if he had a tat.
Your looking up history is interesting and I never consider President Lincoln with a tatoo. But I remember on some show why Mr. Lincoln kept his beard, I know you where talking about ancestary, was due to a young girl asking him to.
Thanks The Sojourner I feel for my sister and hubby, he might have to later in week make more mustard, not like Frenches either, she hopes a friend of theirs daughter or mom will be able to help some during week. 12 hours long time. The three of us will go up refreshed then drag ourselves home. My mom will have a camp type folding chair she can rest on. They will have my hubby doing a lot of running. I will be repeating over and over.
Sounds to me like BT will have a continental breakfast might be interesting reading in morning.
Well I’ll say by and let you back to ancestry. How does one check out for family without being conned into paying? Be interested to see my mom’s side and dad’s side of family.
Hey Little Sister before I go I’ve been reviewing my text books ahead of on-line class time. And it won’t be a scam either as I will go directly through Jr. college site. And not knowing when instructer will post find out on the day.
You off from classes for Friday? I will check answer on am side. Night all
KAB From what little I know due to my sister, Birth certificates, Death certif, marriage, census records, and land sales, old family Bibles etc. We did have some ligitimate searches done by one person who was recommended on one of our lines. I like the stories more than names and dates as do most people.
Sorry to hear of your theft problems. Take care, KAB
Good talking with you RMOM, I’m gone for the night :+))
Kab - I don’t know how to do it on-line, as when I was researching it was before the internet. I did use an on-line bulletin board for genealogy, but that was so long ago, I don’t remember much. The Wichita public library downtown has a genealogy section. That might be a good place to start. They could help you, or at least point you in the right direction.
(in my best Hitchock imitation)
It’s good to be back, even if I can’t stay long tonight.
jarlyddie, there’s always the option of posting another meal menu at a different time of day–some like to offer lunch or supper.
Sojo said, about 6 hidden animals ago
Rmom - I found out how hard it is to spot leopards when I got the Animal Planet network and watched a lot of the “Big Cat Diaries”. The African photos I posted has a large tree with a leopard in it showing how hard is is to see it.
There was also a Nature episode on Himalayan snow leopards where they showed how hard it was actually to spot the cats: they showed the full mountainside, all boulders and grey rocks, and then gradually pulled in to show the one leopard waiting in the midst of all the scenery.
Earliest my family tree has been traced to is the reformation, 1540s in Graubunden (now Switzerland). Seems even then one ancestor was staunchly Catholic–he moved to a new commune rather than become a Reformed Christian. He was also involved, apparently, in the delegation that made peace with Zwingli in 1529, as holder of the seal of one of the leagues.

GROG Premium Member over 13 years ago
Sojourner, tonight’s game is on NBC. All Sunday games are local channels, but you’re subject to regional action for the day games. Monday’s is ESPN.
GROG Premium Member over 13 years ago
Sometimes when Texans games are on ESPN or the NFL network, the game will be on a local station so the people in Houston can see it.
I get bother stations as part of my package + the Sunday Ticket, so it just doesn’t matter to me.
George Arnold over 13 years ago
Thanks Grog - I’ll watch it then. Believe it or not one of our local station’s web site (for a major network) doesn’t even show the program listing anymore from the national broadcast. It just says movie, sports, to be announced etc. so I don’t know what’s going to be on that channel!

Great photo Rmom - Thanks.
Smiley Rmom over 13 years ago
Hi, & thanks, Sojo! I can’t take credit for that one, as you can tell by the copyright. It did say as long as the picture was unaltered, I could use it. It does remind me of going to Kruger Park & trying to spot the animals. Interesting tidbit - that picture was taken on a private game preserve right next to Kruger park, and no fences in-between the two, so the animals can go back & forth. But leopards aren’t seen often in Kruger, because they like to hide, and visitors to Kruger must stay on the main (paved) roads.
George Arnold over 13 years ago
Rmom - I found out how hard it is to spot leopards when I got the Animal Planet network and watched a lot of the Big Cat Diaries. The African photos I posted has a large tree with a leopard in it showing how hard is is to see it.

SOJO and Rmom...My older sister has traced our tree back only to 1500’s. I am primarily English, Scots, with some mixture of German and French and 1/32 Cherokee. We were here for the revolution and had family members involved in that. My Dad’s Mother came to USA from Bothwell Scotland when she was 13.
hopeandjoy2 over 13 years ago
Sojo you went to KU? Oh my.
Smiley Rmom over 13 years ago
Grog - If I remember right, you’re just a little younger than I am. Aren’t you Doc’s age? Sojo - I only worked on researching genealogy between our sons’ births. I got lucky in that I found a book with my grandparents’ names in it, that went back to 900AD. Other than that, I’m doing good to have more than a generation before the one that immigrated. (One ancestor came on the Mayflower, and most fairly soon afterwards, so that means several generations back.) At least I think I’ve figured out the country of origin for all of my lines.

Smiley Rmom over 13 years ago
hope&joy - Mine either came from England (almost all), Holland (Separtists) or Canada when they came here. At least one of my ancestors from Holland was from what is now Belgium. Some of the ones from England had Scot, Irish or French (Normandy, hence Viking) ancestry. So now I just tell people my ancestors are from Western Europe, unless they want more details.
George Arnold over 13 years ago
My cousin found a lot of famous people we are related to in the US like Abraham Lincoln. I think everyone can find famous people in their past. When he got it traced to an old blueblood line in Europe there were records that made it easy to trace it back a long way.
GROG Premium Member over 13 years ago
Wow, you’re looking way ahead there, Little Sister
Smiley Rmom over 13 years ago
My husband’s great-grandfather came from County Cork, Ireland. To get to my most recent immigrant ancestor, I have to go back before the Civil War. hope&joy - I’ve got the necessary DAR credentials, but never pursued it, as I’m not into snobbery.
GROG Premium Member over 13 years ago
Smiley Rmom over 13 years ago
Sojo - They say that everyone now living with western European ancestry is descended from Charlemagne. My cousin sent me the genealogical path, but I misplaced his letter. I went surfing, and found some support for that, but I don’t know how to do genealogical research on-line to do a decent job. It is interesting, but I’ve got other things I’d rather spend my time working on.

I am right at 70 which astonishes me!!
hopeandjoy2 over 13 years ago
Rmom as you know, the Scots and Irish were always skipping back and forth. I used to be an Irish auburn but I think the Scots have the auburn color too. Anyway the color came from my Mom.
George Arnold over 13 years ago
My cousin didn’t just trace the family tree but tried to find out what he could about the people. He found out that it seems like Lincoln had an American flag tattooed on his chest.
Smiley Rmom over 13 years ago
I’ve shared my info with my cousins, but the only one who cared to spend time researching is my “as sharp as a ball bearing” brother, so his research didn’t add to the info I already had. (He’ll look at names in phone books in England, rather than researching records from the time frame our ancestors were there.) I thought I’d get into it while teaching history, but that work would be going in the opposite direction to the way we studied that subject.
GROG Premium Member over 13 years ago
I’m calling it a night folks. I’m watching the final quarter in the comfort of my family room.
hopeandjoy2 over 13 years ago
SOJOI think your right about the connection to Charlemagne as another family member has us traced back to him (but not proven) with the smatterings of obligatory royalty hither and yon.
Somehow it would seem the Flag tattoo would be mentioned more. I have read several books on Lincoln and have not come across this info.
Smiley Rmom over 13 years ago
Also, through our history, we got hooked on reading the “Brother Cadfael” books, and I read the whole series to the family. After we’d read them all, I checked some of the movies out from the library. Really neat for the period costumes, etc. However, the movie had a different villain than one in the book, and the movie villain would have been an ancestor, or at least a traceable cousin, so we were rather offended!

Smiley Rmom over 13 years ago
hope&joy - I never made it to Europe, but my parents & sister toured the Warwick castle.

Hi Kab - Sorry to hear the bad news. I hope you and your family have a good time at the stste fair the next two weekends.
Smiley Rmom over 13 years ago
Sojo - I’ve never heard about Lincoln having a tattoo. I’m skeptical, since most Christians back then would not have gotten one. Hi, Kab! - Nope, don’t watch tv.
George Arnold over 13 years ago
Rmom - It isn’t a proven fact just speculation from what was discovered I think. Certainly not text book material.
hopeandjoy2 over 13 years ago
I think you are right RMom about the original wood. Amazing we have as many in one piece (stone etc) as we do. Remember the Windsor Castle fire destroyed a lot of the inside…a ceremonial hall if I remember.
Sojo Interesting info. to ponder and more evidence is always showing up on these things.
The dryer is calling. Byeeeeee
Smiley Rmom over 13 years ago
Sojo - I can’t say I’ve exhaustively researched Lincoln, but I’ve done a fair amount of studying him. Mom used to say we were related to him, because her grandma’s maiden name was Ann Rebecca Hanks. More of my genealogical research proved there was no direct link. All of my Civil War veterans are from the Union side, too. I don’t think any of my ancestors were from Kentucky. (Almost all Yankees - there were some in one of the Carolinas, but by the Civil War, my relatives on that line were in Minnesota!)
George Arnold over 13 years ago
I guess my first statement shoudn’t have been so strong about the tattoo. It is a possibility from what was found.
Smiley Rmom over 13 years ago
Sojo - Sounds like there could have been other explanations besides a tattoo. Just saying from what I know of Christian culture from that era, and that Lincoln was a devout Christian, I’d be surprised if he had a tat.
George Arnold over 13 years ago
From some of the people my cousin found in Europe it has made me interested in learning more of history over there
George Arnold over 13 years ago

(in my best Hitchock imitation) It’s good to be back, even if I can’t stay long tonight.
jarlyddie, there’s always the option of posting another meal menu at a different time of day–some like to offer lunch or supper.
