For some earlier takes on this proposition, see E.M. Forster “The Machine Stops,” Keith Laumer “The Walls,” Ray Bradbury “The Veldt.” Or just look around at all the people lost in their tiny hand-held devices, with the glories of nature (and monstrosities of human fabrication and destruction) going unnoticed.

In that movie “SOYLENT GREEN”, remember that room that Edward G Robinson died in, and the look of surprise, awe and wonder on Charlton Heston’s face?

And here we are, with two non-collaborative sel-destructive factions, — standing back-to-back — one looking to the past, and the other to the future, while both are too busy finding fault with each other and not working on solutions to today’s critical problems.

I watched some of ‘The Matrix’ last night. Hard to believe that movie is now 25 years old.

Reminds me of Silent Running. Where there were no more plants on Earth. It wasn’t depicted just mentioned. There were some gardens that had been preserved and sent in to space. These gardens were in big domes as part of a space station. (The model used was seen again in the original Battlestar Galactica series.)

It’s sad how AI is slowly starting to take over our lives, as a person born in the 1970s, it was nothing like this back then.
