Didn’t they ban Pete Rose for life because he threatened the “integrity” of the game? How is this different?

Why the fork would a guy with a guaranteed $700,000,000 contract want to gamble? Is he hoping to strike it rich?
If he isn’t hoping to strike it rich, he just enjoys gambling for the fun of it, he could just bet pennies with his friends….
