My version of the cartoon has a Detroit D for the Tigers. I wonder if versions of this cartoon that show in different regions have a logo for their teams?
If Dad is a Tiger’s fan then he’s obviously a glutton for punishment. By the end of May they’ve racked up 10 or more losses in a row and swirling down the bowl.

And the first game features my Dodgers! (And if they lose, it won’t hurt nearly as much as their October losses always do.)
