Just when you think the “Big Stare” controversy is settled, the issue sweeps the nation. Eventually it gets to the top, and planning for the first H-bomb test for the Cold War will have to wait – the Buck Stops Here, and President LePetomane’s cabinet has to save their phoney-baloney jobs!
Slim’s made it back to work in the garage, but he’s still suffering from a touch of vertigo.
Slim is looking especially infant-like in the first panel. Why are these elderly people (Slim is over 70, after all) drawn to look like Precious Moments dolls?
My working theory is: Somewhere in the Gasoline Alley Universe, there’s a flock of talking chickens (not the weirdest thing to visit Scancarelli’s imagination). Slim has befriended them, and they’re thanking him. No, wait! Hens can’t write, they peck on a typewriter.
