I saw a chyron that he stood up to ‘em (somewhat) today. Didn’t see or hear what the speech WAS, but that he told ‘em he wouldn’t (something) and they could go find another patsy. Since he’s already decided to (try to) impeach Biden, that probably leaves “fund the government” as the pivotal issue.

And honestly? If it comes right down to it, I’m betting he’ll cave. But I was wrong about Mike Pee doing that, so who knows.

National security expert blames Republican officials for stirring up rage that’s led to attacks on FBI

The FBI has opened a new department to handle threats against its own agents that have ramped up as Republicans in Congress and personalities on conservative TV draw parallels between the agency and Trump’s prosecution and the Hunter Biden investigation, according to a report.NBC’s Ken Dilanian wrote on Thursday that FBI agents have been particularly swatted by individuals miffed over the lack of a prosecution of Biden. He was indicted on Thursday.

Threats against public officials have been steadily climbing in recent years, creating new challenges for law enforcement, civil rights and the health of American democracy.

The Capitol Police last year reported that they investigated more than double the number of threats against members of Congress as they did four years earlier. Driven by former President Donald Trump’s lies that the 2020 election was stolen from him, threats against election workers have exploded, with one in six reporting threats against them and many seasoned election administrators leaving the job or considering it.

“It’s definitely increased in the last five years,” said Jake Spano, mayor in the Minneapolis suburb of St. Louis Park and a board member of the National League of Cities, which issued a report in 2021 finding that 81 percent of local elected officials reported receiving threats and 87 percent saw the problem worsening.

Mouth-breathers like Gaetz, Greene & Boebert will never move to oust McCarthy, because at this point, no one else who could possibly get the votes wants the job.

It’s not “Far Right;” it’s not “Ultra Conservative.” It’s “right-wing populist.” Words and ideas mean something, and the Left fails to correctly identify and discern right-wing populism from conservative. I truly believe doing so contributes to some of our deep divides.
