In a better world, we’d have better choices. But we’re in the world we’re in. I’m personally pushing toward getting big money … or at least anonymous big money out of politics. That seems to me to be a keystone of the problem we currently have with the way politics and elections (don’t) work.
Fun fact, Micky Mouse won 391 votes in Orange County Florida during the last Presidential election. It’s impossible to say how many he got nation wide as those are considered unqualified votes and many states just toss them out. Still, interesting to know. https://www.mynews13.com/fl/orlando/news/2020/11/17/write-in-candidates-florida-include-mickey-mouse-kanye-bernie-sanders
Like FDR in 1944, we’d take our chances. There is a difference in health, despite the difference in age, like the difference between FDR and HST in 1944, and HST made it to 88. As for Drumpf, his diet alone could kill him before 80.
If this was “Let’s Make a Deal” I would ask Monty what was behind door number 3. If it is Biden vs the Trumpster for round 2, let’s hope Joe can hold it together for 4 more years, a serious gamble. I am not sold on Kamala Harris but if she were to become president, it would keep the White House out of repubba/alt right hands until January 2029 which is obviously a good thing. I do wish the DNC went with someone a bit more charismatic and progressive like Governor Whitmer, Liz Warren, Karen Bass or taking a flyer on someone from the squad but the DNC seems keen on continuing to push to the right for those middling “moderates” instead of becoming more innovative, creative and progressive.
TR is not wrong (though it would have been better to have Biden with one foot in the casket as he is not quite there yet), nonetheless, the choice is still an easy one.
Democrats would have been better-advised to begin coalescing around someone to replace Biden early on. Right now there’s no rising star (say, like Obama was in 2008, or even a “dark horse” like Carter). And from a center-left perspective, Biden has been quite successful. Lesser men and women of both parties have served well into their 80s and 90s in Congress and most of them still had all their faculties. Biden has physically slowed down and walks with the gait of a man with arthritis, hardly a disqualifying malady, one that handicaps much younger people. And yes, he has misspoken, but compare that to the utter nonsense and carny patter uttered by his predecessor, who by the way has an unhealthier lifestyle and is only four years younger than Biden.
Two lousy choices. Polls reveal about 50% of Democrats don’t want Biden to run again, and RFK Jr. is offering an alternative. The Republicans are offering many choices, but unfortunately many of their voters can’t let go of Trump.
Willie Nelson is 90, and just won a Grammy for a powerful album. Betty White worked past 90. Ted, I would vote for Jimmy Carter if he was running, regardless of who he was running against. Age doesn’t mean he is dead, Ted.
And yes, right now I don’t care who the Republicans put in the cage, I’m still voting for Biden.
Ted likes to overlook all of the primaries and caucuses that give us all opportunities to choose along the way. For those willing to work at it, or course. Who said that democracy was supposed to be a free ride?
Biden is most certainly the lesser of two evils, but for those getting upset and insisting that Biden is better… wouldn’t it be nice not to be stuck with the choice of “lesser of two evils”?
The bar has been set so low, that nobody is questioning this anymore.
There are historical Republican presidents that would make a better Democrat than Biden, and every running presidential candidate in the history of America would do a better job than Trump.
I think post election in 2024, the more likely scenario is Biden in a wheelchair with a nurse and Trump in a bunker in Mar A Largo remotely encouraging a mob to its death against police and military.
This is yet another manifestation of Rall’s constant ageism and hatred for Biden. In former cartoons Rall has described Biden as both incompetent and incontinent.
Never met a man I didn’t like or a politician I would trust; Will got that right before most of the people here was born, only thing different is the date
The question is……………Will Biden live long enough to get re-elected? Will Jack Smith prove either Trump’s treason or Trump as an insurrectionist, making him ineligible for office. No and yes seems highly likely. Neither party has a plan B.
“Trump isn’t Biden’s only problem. Biden is doing poorly in the polls generally, most notably ahead of DeSantis by only one point in an average of the last five polls.”
That’s almost incredibly bad.

You did notice that Trump is 77, right Ted? And no one knows his health status.

Real talk Ted- Right now, I’m not sure you live longer than Biden. He’s probably got 15 or 20 years left.
Kissinger might be a more fair competition on that mortality sweepstakes.
