This is a terrible Cathy! Seriously?!?!? She only wants a man to pay for her emotional purchases? Puh-leeze. First of all, if you are nutty enough to go buy baby stuff for a baby that you might have one day (yes, I know she’ll have one eventually, but she doesn’t know that at this point), then pay for your nuttiness by yourself! Second, you think that you are being such a strong feminist, but you’re actually dragging us back to the dark ages. Guys, feel free to bash this one…Good morning, Susan – glad you’re back! Good morning Aaron! After all of these nice desserts, now I either need some exercise or some stretchy pants. :-)Hello to GsMom, Billy, KFG, rgcviper, lindz.coop, hendelca, Mona, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare, gmforde, soonergal, legaleagle and all the other Cathy nuts rolling around here today!

You don’t need a man to have a baby either. Just adopt one or do artificial insemination.

That’s not a salesclerk, that’s Charlene, Cathy’s co-worker and best friend. Oh, and as an aside to Cathy: Since you’ve stated for three decades that you don’t need a man, well, on behalf of my gender, thank you — we don’t need YOU either!

I find these “I don’t need a man!” chicks funny, when the old clock starts ticking….their new battle cry becomes “Where are all the men ?” Yes, I’m a chick too…lol

If Cathy didn’t need a man for anything over the last 3 decades of her life, then she shouldn’t need one for the next decade either — which is to get pregnant and raise a baby on her own if that’s what she really wants to do. If all he’d be is just a baby-item-buyer then she should do Irving and all other man-kind a favor and leave them alone! Sorry, but women (like Cathy today) really bug me. People — women and men — have feelings and shouldn’t be used just for someone else’s gain . . . whether that gain is money, status and/or possessions. Everyone deserves to be loved for the person they are inside — and not just for their paycheck and bank account balance!

    HI AARON & DR. BILLY!

That bowl of fruit looks very refreshing after all that strawberry shortcake over the last few days! ;-)

Good afternoon, lightenup, K.F.G., Susan, rgcviper, hendelca, gmforde, lindz.coop, Gator007, legaleagle48 and all the REST of the “Cathy” fanatics joining us here today. Tomorrow’s Friday! ;-)

And I also want to add that I hate the “women/men bashing” arguments that rise up from comics like this. Sure, technically women don’t need men and men don’t need women, and we all have differences that are easy to make fun of, but really why can’t we focus on what we have in common and the good in each other?

P.S.: Just how old is Cathy anyhow?!?!?!? I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she was, say, an 18 year-old hippie (based on her clothes) in 1971 when all that “women’s lib” stuff was going on. Ten years later, in 1981, she would have been around age 28. Twenty years later, in 2001, she would have been about 48 years old. She and Irving got married 4 years later, in 2005, making her around 52 years of age. Then her baby girl was born 6 years later, in 2011, making her approximately 58 years of age! Now, how on earth could Cathy possibly have gotten pregnant when she should be well into menopause by then?!?!?!? Or is my math maybe just a little bit too fuzzy? What the heck?!?! Maybe it was just a 21st-century modern-day medical miracle that did it!!!!! Anybody more familiar with this comic that would know something more about it than I do???

Mom! I’m thinking Cathy ages 1 year for every 2 years of ‘normal’ people. Using nothing but a WAG, I’d say she’s mid-30’s at most. In Maturity Years, about 4.

Dinner is done (and that nice bowl of melons is long gone). I’ve cleaned up. LMB and I are going for a bike ride.

Is she thinking she needs a man to pay for all that stuff or is she thinking she is going to need a man to have a baby someday?BTW, are you SURE those melons are all gone. They sure look refreshing.

Hi Cathyites!! Not sure having a baby on your own was quite as accepted when this comic was first published as it is today.

Hey GretchensMom — haven’t you heard of the grandmothers carrying their own grandchildren when their daughters are unable to carry to term? Everytime I think I’m out of the woods, one of them breaks the record for having a baby into their 60s. Next we’ll have 90 year olds trying it. Aack!!

Love the melons Aaron & Billy!!!
