And thus the balance of the universe has been restored. Welcome back Cathy. We missed you. Rugs are okay. Pillows are okay. Lamps are good. I blame Sales Lady.

Yawn. Too early, Some disturbance in The Force woke me a little before 4:00 — and it was midnight before I fell asleep. Maybe the same one that bugged lindz.coop on Monday. I’m freaking out LMB. I yawn and then I wait for him to yawn. He’s fighting it, but he loses. Cruel Billy, cruel.

    Hi Mom

in case Aaron doesn’t get online this a.m. Morning Susan and lightenup. Guess I’ll get some breakfast into me and LMB.

She’s baaaa-ack!! Good ol’ Cathy! Decorative cellulite? That’s a new one. p.s. It annoys me when the “hoarder” label comes out when someone may have some extra stuff that they don’t need. That’s not hoarding and you’re just a victim of a recent TV trend! Sigh…Good morning, legaleagle, Susan, Aaron and Billy! Billy, I"m sorry the Force woke you up – I hope you’re hanging in there on less than 4 hours sleep! Poor guy…Hello to GsMom, Billy, KFG, rgcviper, lindz.coop, hendelca, Mona, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare, soonergal, lippyfish and all the other Cathy nuts rolling around here today!

Love the eyeroll. I can understand her wanting all of that stuff in the house. My husband calls it “lining the nest”. I think it’s more fun to buy this stuff than to buy clothes. You don’t have to try the stuff on and you can give whatever to your friends and family when you don’t need them anymore.

Geez, ¾ uncrazy. Nice. But of course, she can’t be uncrazy all the way. eyeroll is right legaleagle48.

Susan that was a bit of a strange thing to say. No hangover for our Billy. Two beers each is our limit, and only with pizza or Mexican food. Neither of us have been even close to being drunk and having a hangover. His sleep distress is most always from worrying about me working overnight. Most of the time he has a right to worry and lose sleep. I’ve been trying to relieve his fears but he’s been doing that for the 12 years that I’ve been a firefighter. I take it as a sign he loves me very much.

    Hi Mom! :-D

lightenup I don’t get the hoarding comment either. Rugs, pillows, and lamps do not a hoarder make. We’re not counting the stuff that we probably know is in her closets and spare room.

I like that she’s not ‘normal’ some days so that on the days (few that there are) that she is normal, we’re glad to have her back.

Umm, no, no hangover. (Wonder where that thought came from Susan). I played hockey for almost 3 hours last night, came home and read for a while and then tried (and failed) to sleep. Yeah I do worry about my Aaron. Not like he’s got a safe job or anything. :-(

I’d much rather have “decorative cellulite” because done tastefully, that’s much more attractive to look at than the other kind is! ;-)

Hi, Aaron and Dr. Billy! :-)

Good evening, lightenup, Susan, K.F.G. (wherever you are!), rgcviper, hendelca, Mona, lindz.coop, summerdog, gmforde, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare, soonergal, Gator007, legaleagle48 and all the REST of the “Cathy” clan hanging out with us here tonight. Good to “see” you all! :-)

    lightenup: (from yesterday)

I know how you feel regarding an elderly mother and a scary flight of stairs! The old house I grew up in was a one-story, 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom house but it had an unfinished basement where everything was stored, from Christmas decorations to canned foods, etc. But what had me all nervous and worked up so much was that the washer and dryer was down there too. I constantly worried that one day, she’d slip or lose her balance and fall down those 20 or so steps and either break a bone or hit her head and die.

You should do what we did and that’s convince your mother that it would be an excellent idea to sell her house and move into a patio home (or condo or garden home, whatever they call it where she lives) instead. I didn’t know if my mom would really be willing to leave a house that she had lived in for 40+ years with my dad (until he died) but I think she was probably a little worried about falling, too (even though she didn’t say so). So when she came across an almost-new patio home 5 years ago, she just fell in love with it at first sight! It’s a really nice 2-bedroom, 2-bath house with a fireplace and glassed-in sun porch that’s on one level (sitting on a concrete slab foundation, so no stairs to climb and risk a chance of falling). Best of all, it came with a 2-car garage — something the old house never had. When she no longer had to scrape ice and snow off the windshield, carry groceries from the car to the house in the rain, etc., I think that alone made it all worthwhile for her!

Do you think your mother would be receptive to something like this? If she’s anything like my mother, we had to “plant the seed” of this great idea first and then, without pushing, let her think about it for a while and come to the decision on her own to do it rather than just tell her that that’s what she needed to do; otherwise, she’d have just been stubborn and rebeled against it — which means she’d probably still be in that same old house today as she’s about to turn 76 in 4 months. Thankfully she decided to make the move and now we don’t have to worry about an unfortunate fall down the stairs anymore.

Well, the color scheme she chose for her bedroom is … interesting.

Not sure if you all ever read the “Tina’s Groove” comic (about people working at a restaurant), but today’s strip instantly made me think of you guys. You’re welcome.

Hi Cathyites!! Sooo right — our Cathy is back!! Decorative cellulite is actually kinda nice. Why does Cathy have to worry about every little thing she buys — because someone (a little voice?) is telling her she “should” not do it. The motto of my job as a therapist is “I will not should on myself today.”

Sorry my insomnia was contagious Billy — mine was actually a result of going off the pain pills post-surgery (just a minor procedure, but I still took the pills a couple of days). I knew I wouldn’t be sleeping Sunday night & just accepted it — sigh. The good news is that I slept VERY soundly last night.

Next time it happens, I’ll join you lightenup.

    @Billy & @lightenup

Happy to hear you enjoyed Tuesday’s “Tina’s Groove” comic. It’s actually one I read on my subscription to DailyInk, a comic website that allows you to choose a series of daily comics to read for an annual fee (about $20). The website is http://dailyink.com/ if you’re interested. To post here, though, I just Googled “Tina’s Groove comic” and found its site.
