Two things:

Most important: He gave that away to get something even more valuable to the nation.

And also: He’s basically pretty conservative (maybe because of his age) for someone in his position. So giving away tuition which sounds really good to liberals doesn’t really strike a loud chord in his mind.

Yeah, it’s a really great idea not to vote for Biden because of the student loans and hereby making sure that Trump or DeSantis becomes the next president.

He didn’t forget to forgive anything. Besides, maybe you should budget better and pay them off.

Is it better to get things done or to stand on principle? For better or worse, Biden is a moderate. Everyone who followed his career knows that and that he operates within the system, which often means making compromises. The question for me is will there be more chances for progressive “wins” with him reelected or with somebody else in the White House?

Even the US Senate voted to block Joe’s free student loan forgiveness vote buying scheme.

Colleges with huge endowments should pay for that .

For people IN THE KNOW, Supreme Court stopped it.

To get an education in America, one must give their souls to the devils…loan companies, crooked politicians who get kickbacks, etc..(Betsy Devoe was investigated because of her ties with the loan companies.)…. look it up

I acknowledge that the student loan situation has gotten out of hand but bottom line, YOU took out the loans. You knew the terms and you signed on the bottom line. Like any other loan you are required to pay it back and to do so according to the terms YOU agreed to. If you can’t afford the loan, don’t take out the loan. Yes this makes getting an education more difficult but you can’t blame the banks for how the colleges and universities are abusing their power.

In just about every election I have voted in (1972-) it has been between a lesser of two evils. My first election(1972) was perhaps the clearest contest between good/evil and evil won in a record landslide. Much like a 10 year old being given a choice between two vegetables, both of which he hates.

It very telling of the ‘higher educated’ They are an elite individual that should not be held responsible for their financial actions. The growing mantra in this country: Not my fault I did it. I shouldn’t be held responsible. The government should fix it and take someone else money, not mine.

Biden’s plan is not “loan forgiveness” it is “loan transfer” to every taxpayer.

He we go with Ted’s impetuous lack of reality. Now I know why he likes Wright.

Well, Joe did try, which is way more than any Repub would do. So, lady, you going to sit on your glutes and let the Repubs win, or get up for Dems, and look beyond your one concern be pushed to the side to keep Repubs out of power?

The problem progressives have is those that would be most helped by progressive legislation/candidates don’t vote. 40%+ of eligible citizens don’t vote and likely never will. The ACA is an excellent example of this; those who benefited the most did not vote in 2010, those who were happy with their employment based insurance were sold on the idea the ACA endangered their insurance and voted against Democrats down to the state level. It was de ja vu all over as Democrats lost the House in 94 in a reaction to “Hillary Care”.

I would bet a majority of those <30 who would benefit from loan forgiveness won’t vote either.

Just not fair that you (students) should have to pay back loans that enabled you to eat while learning a trade that you will never ever use.

Decisions made out of spite will come back around and bite the a$$ of the one who made them….at least that is something my Great Aunt Mary used to say.

Biden didn’t forget anything. He brought it. Opposition stopped it.

Sigh. Ted, I wonder where you get your information from. Biden’s loan forgiveness plan was struck down by the Supreme Court and united Republican opposition.

In most other countries with advanced economies, higher education is free or nearly so. Only in the US are students expected to pay for most of their education. This is a reverse from the mid-20th century, when states and the federal government picked up most of the tab. Why the change? Could it have anything to do with increasing numbers of women and people of color going to college?

I have seen people at universities and colleges treat student loans just like republicans treats national debt, a no limit credit card. Pay your bills!

What part of “loan” did they not understand?

Do you mean the dems had the house and senate for two years and didn’t bail out the student loans? What a shock! You would think they lied to you.

Other things they did not even try to do with that majority:

Reparations

Codifying abortion rights

Fixing immigration laws

Things they actually accomplished:

Bailed out millionaires and billionaires after bank failures

Laundered money through Ukraine

Wow, he scr@wed environmentalists and the youth vote with that last deal. Probably needs to bail out Wall St. again to complete the circle.

He’s going to have to think up a new bribe to get out the young vote again.

Ted, Biden’s student loan forgiveness EO stands for now. He took it off the table in the debt ceiling negotiation. Now, it’s up to the SCOTUS majority that you helped create.

Maybe you’re still hoping the guy who went to Harvard Law & decided to start a Socialist Blog will get his 6 figure loans forgiven. ¯\(ツ)/¯

Democratic voters staying home because they were disappointed they didn’t get everything they wanted right away is what gave use the red wave of 2010, along with it’s tidal surge of gerrymandering and voter ID laws, and trump in 2016. If you want one side to win but you stay home because you want to "send a message’, you are just helping the other side win. I wonder if all those Dems who didn’t vote in 2016 because they “didn’t really like Hillary” had voted for her what would our country look like today.

Biden is doing the opposite.
