Air travel used to be very expensive. Then airlines started to lower their prices to compete. Then they started shrinking the seats, reducing leg room and eliminating services. Fees are added without much disclosure and people bring more baggage into the cabin. Add in long lines and some TSA agents getting power mad and you end up with a plane full of people that are ready to start fights.
Besides not affording basic needs, I believe the cartoon is insinuating that Electric planes don’t exist for the middle class- still only private jets for the wealthy! BTW- I want to keep my gas stove top!

This toon is from Oz, I don’t think it has anything to do with US
