Totally incidental point: A looong time ago I saw a German-language performance of “Madame Butterfly” in which the name of Lt. Pinkerton had been changed to Linkerton. I managed to get backstage and talk to the man who sang the role. He explained that in German the word pinkeln means “to pee” and that the name was changed to avoid that association.
