Why would they need to flop (& risk being caught doing so)? Many players probably have some simmering hostility to cameras from paparazzi and fans following them around. A bad game may be all that’s needed to unleash it.
See Billy Wilder’s “The Fortune Cookie”, starring Jack Lemmon as a cameraman knocked down by a football player and Walter Matthau as his ambulance-chaser lawyer.
Say goodbye to one of the last of the original Mets,Roger Craig.Famous for a Jimmy Durante nose and a monumental 1963 personal losing streak.(but he pitched complete game losses).
At one point in 1963,he lost two starts in a row to the very badPhiladelphia Phillies on walk-off home runs by old slugger RoySievers(usually AmericanLeague).
Casey Stengel said the next time Sievers came up with Craig pitching,he’d throw a butterfly net over Craig and personally drag him off t he mound.

The richer the athlete, the better the chance of a lawsuit!

Maybe cameramen shouldn’t be so close to the players.

Uh-oh. Now I’ve gotta google this to see what might have just happened that I’m not aware of.
Got it. Davante Adams. In case anyone else is mystified, here’s the story:

Did the NBA stop fining players for flopping? Perhaps the flopping penalty needs to grow exponentially for repeat offenders….
