From what I hear, if you tipped him through the register, the tip was either shared among all of the clerks at the shop, or went straight to the owners of the donut shop. I tend to tip waitstaff better than I tip at sandwich or donut shops. I figure I am doing some of the work at those shops, so I should tip myself 10%, at least. 5% to the owners of said shop is plenty.
