Another possible source of items for the household gone. Every loss of its kind shrinks the marketplace. That leaves a couple of ‘department stores’, some ‘big box’ locations, and so-called ‘wholesale warehouses’ to decide what we will wear, eat, or use for entertainment and furniture. What used to be called a ‘quality of life’ has skewed to become ‘what you will find that works.’
Nothing ever changes there. The inventory is as static as anywhere I’ve ever shopped. It’s also so generic that it’s just as easy to purchase online.
Stores like this need to develop a compelling reason for consumers to walk in. Borders died because of this, and Barnes & Noble barely survived. For every Macy’s or Dillard’s on life support there are dead chains like Sears and KMart.

They failed to adapt well to current circumstances. Which, to be fair, included a pandemic.

Sorry, never did figure out what that (beyond) meant. We are increasingly adding vague meanings to established words.
Woke.. is perhaps one of the latest that no one can define.. used to be associated with sleeping.. As in “I woke up this morning”

I think Mike Lindell should buy the company and rename it “My Pillow and Beyond”. Kind of a catchy name.
