One side wants to govern. The other side wants to ban books and abortions while pushing culture wars.
repugs have no policy… not one… that appeals to the majority of Americans. The one and only purpose of government in their minds is the continual transfer of wealth from the poor and middle class to their wealthy masters. And this is deeply unpopular, even with republican voters.
So all they have is “culture wars.” Be it Mister Potato Head, or M&Ms, or Dr. Seuss, or X-Boxes or (This Space To Be Occupied By The Next One) they have a never ending need for some new “outrage” to gin up.
Vote against your bases best interest and then feed them a distraction to get upset about and blame the democrats. Works every time

Oh, the G.O.P. still stands for something: greed, to gain money and power – and to heck with ethics. Or at least, that is what they are indicating to the world now…
Speaking of standing for something, the Dems still are waiting for the GOPQ to present their arguments, ideas and plans to avoid the default in June. The economists are saying that Yellen is using “extraordinary measures” now to keep the government functioning.
If form follows process and if there is a proposal, McCarthy will start his press conference or House speech with:
The Republican Party began in the 1854 as the Liberal party in the U.S. Lincoln, a Liberal, was their first elected president. Republican Teddy Roosevelt was a Liberal. Democrat Woodrow Wilson was a Southerner, conservative and a racist. Coolidge and Hoover were Republican conservatives. conservatives called Eisenhower a “socialist”, some even called him a “communist”. The Republican Party had a Liberal wing well into the 1960s, and last led by Thomas Dewey and Nelson Rockefeller. It was Nixon’s ‘Southern Strategy’ in 1968 that began the full conversion of conservatives in the South to the GOP. Imagine the South supporting the ‘Party of Lincoln’.
Things change. Party philosophies changed. Today the Democrats have what is called ‘the big tent’ in that they have everything from conservatives to socialists. The Republican Party has pushed out even the moderates, all that’s Republican now are conservative extremists to fascists. Today Republicans are the conservative party and the KKK along with other white supremacist groups support Republicans and the fascism of tRump.Identifying oneself by party is dishonest and misleading when the person refuses to acknowledge the changes in party philosophies. Identifying as Liberal, Moderate, conservative, etc. are being honest.
Every Republican/conservative presidency since 1929 has had a depression or recession, some had two. Conservatives have proved beyond the shadow of a doubt, that they cannot manage an economy or govern a country.
It seems that for the last eighty or ninety years, the GOP has had only one actual policy, which is to funnel money to large corporations and immensely wealthy individuals. These are their constituents. Everything they do is to further that one single policy. Their voters, however, are not their constituents, and the party couldn’t care less about them. When the GOP found that fake culture war “issues” would frighten people into mindlessly voting Republican, without the party having to actually do anything for them, the GOP knew it had struck gold. This is terribly dangerous for a democracy. Largely due to Republican policy, we may very well end up as an authoritarian oligarchy, and the GOP seems to be perfectly OK with that.
