Red, you didn’t think that through. Now you have to get your butt up and get Rover his Milky Bone. Lol.

Can Rover’s expressions get any better?!! BTW, Newton may be sound asleep but always hears (?) the refrigerator door opening . . .

We use to have two sibling short-hair red dachshunds, one male & one female. Whenever the boy, named Geddy, was asleep… if someone walked over to him and just said “hungry?” while he was under the blanket, he’d shoot out from under that thing like he was fired out of a cannon and run straight to the kitchen. Sadly, we said goodbye to him in 2020 and his sister Sadie the following year.

Dogs aren’t always as deeply asleep as we think. Sometimes they are on “idle,” as I call it. They will show some little sign of listening to things if we look at them and will respond quickly if needed. Others, they are deeply asleep and it will take a little longer. A deaf dog misses a lot. My last dog was totally deaf her last few years and I could sometimes sneak in and sit down and read for an hour or two and she would wake up and see me and be so excited! She could not figure it out – I wasn’t there when she went to sleep.

I hope you had a milk bone with you Red ……. because now Rover wants his treat …. but it’s worth it, even if you have to get up …… :)
