After the beating Putin’s taken off a bunch of civilians with guns I think his master plan is now in the trash can.

I guess it’s good that we get some cartoons looking at things from Putin’s point of view.

The idea is to stop Putin from gobbling up Ukraine to gain more control of the Black Sea & land access to Transnistria & beyond. There is no willingness in DC to bomb Moscow, no matter how justified the Ukrainians would be in doing so. Biden is a lousy warmonger.

Ted Rall is correct. Vladimir Putin is nothing more or less than a Russian patriot. After all, who would want the rest of Europe?

He never said anything about Russia invading the rest of Europe.

Surely with all the equipment Ukraine has acquired, they can hit “❌” spot and bomb the hell out of the cowards cave!

Meanwhile, overnight, reports say over 100 Russian missile struck targets in Ukraine. (Including one that went over Moldavian airspace.) Frankly, the fact that the targets of these strikes are often power grids and other civilian targets makes it clear who holds the moral high ground. What, exactly, did Ukraine do to warrant such response? Not roll over in the first few days of the war? Maybe Putin and anyone who thinks this is OK could look and see how invaders are treated pretty much anywhere?

They are already making noises about invading Poland!!! I guess some people think Putin should be appeased. Worked really well for Neville Chamberlain, didn’t it!!

Sure, Ted. If those Ukrainians would only stop resisting the reasonable actions of Putin we could have “peace in our time.”

I don’t agree with Rall’s position on Ukraine, but I don’t think he’s nuts. If I may indulge myself a little….. First, I think that a person’s first responsibility is to try to make changes where they can. As a citizen of the US, and a taxpayer and voter, my first responsibility is to promote good actions of my government and to oppose bad actions. So I have spent a lot of time and effort over my longish life promoting racial justice and anti-imperialism. I have spent less time on the sins of other governments, just because I can’t have much influence over them. (A footnote: I’m a dual US/Canadian citizen, and I spend an equal amount of time and effort on Canadian policy. That’s a different story.) That doesn’t mean, however, that I think we should turn a blind eye to the sins of other governments. (There may well be some distinction, however, between the internal and the external actions of other governments.) Second, I’m not a big fan of imperialism. Imperialism is complex; it includes, roughly speaking, continental imperialism, over-seas imperialism, colonialism, neo-colonialism, neo-imperialism, and perhaps spheres-of-influence. The US has engaged in all of these. Third, most people in the US don’t have much knowledge of US history, and they try to sugar-coat or forget about what they do know. Here are some questions about US history: What was “Manifest Destiny” all about? How did Texas become part of the US? How did Hawaii become part of the US? What was the Platt Amendment? What is the history of the US in the Philippines? There are lots more questions that are instructive. Another with more relevance to Rall’s cartoons: What is the history of NATO? I still don’t agree with Rall’s position, but anyone who does disagree should be able to discuss the history of NATO.

Not the rest of Europe, just restore the max czarist boundaries. “Such is the law of the Russian land and such it will always be.”

The line drawn currently is not to provide weapon systems that could be used to attack Russia itself.
