    Howdy Vagabonds

Warm morning for winter anyway at 26, suppose to be cloudy but the sun ain’t up yet. Mostly cloudy with snow showers this morning, expected high of 35 today. Lovely. (^.^)

OK, a quick quiz: Name the movie and the star.

    1. At the end of the Civil War, a Confederate team is ordered to rob a Union payroll train but the war ends leaving these men with the Union loot, until the feds come looking for it. (1956)

    2. A young man serving a one-year jail sentence for manslaughter. While in the big house, his cellmate, a former country singer, introduces him to the record business. He takes to it so well that he decides to become a singer when he gets out. (1957)

    3. A troubled young man discovers that he has a knack for writing when a counselor encourages him to pursue a literary career. (1961)

    4. As an incognito nun tries to help a doctor clean up an inner-city ghetto, the pair grow closer with time. (1969)

Well I’ll leave you it, good luck.

Hay, everybody, have a wonerful day, may the lord give you a great blessing.

    Good morning, Vagabonds.

Mike got a good start on moving into his new place yesterday. He spent the night there last night so I guess he managed to get his bed moved. I’m trying hard not to be too nosy, but curtains are really easy to pull aside to check on his car… (LOL!)

I took some time yesterday to update the inventory app we have. The “garage” has gotten so rearranged that it was sadly out of date. I’m not done yet, but I kinda got burned out on it yesterday. I’ll keep at it, though. I keep finding things that never got entered into the app, so it’s been a challenge. I’m certainly not bothering with individual books or collectable spoons. Those are inventoried elsewhere. It keeps me busy…

Why is it that when I can go anywhere I want, I’m content to stay home and now that I’m quarantined (and not feeling bad at all) I’m so restless that I can’t stand it?

I have officially lost my sense of smell. I can still taste the usual things on my tongue (sweet, salt, bitter, savory, etc.) but I can’t even taste chocolate other than just sweet. No chocolate??? Aarrrggghh! Oh well, this too shall pass. Maybe I’ll even lose a couple of pounds. Michael is feeling a bit better this morning, but I still have to nag him to get him to eat or drink anything. He can’t smell anything either at the moment, so eating isn’t as much fun.

We’ve been joking that there’s an advantage to no sense of smell: you can’t smell the stinky garbage in the kitchen or the “aroma” from the bathroom. I think it’s a good thing that we develop habits of removing those smells, even when we can’t detect them.

Another day of blue skies and sunshine in the forecast, high of 57 and 45 at the moment. It did get chilly last night, though.

    Everyone have a blessed day.

    Morning, Vagabonds!

Going to rain all day. I’m not expecting a big crowd at church today, but I’ve got a sermon prepared, and I’m prepared to preach God’s Word!

Partly cloudy and 22, snow showers early getting steadier later on. Yoiks!

Picarajustina is correct, these are all Elvis movies. After seeing “Charro” the other day and finding out Elvis did a western, he was good to, anyway, that gave the idea to do an all Elvis quiz.

Here’s the answers to the questions:

    1. “Love me Tender”

    2. “Jail House Rock”

    3. “Wild in the Country”

    4. “Change of Habit”

    I got a little sneaky this time, ain’t I a stinker. (^.^)

May the Lord bless you and keep you, and may you have a great day.

    Good morning, Vagabonds.

I would take a turn at this movie quiz thing, but I am drawing a complete blank at the moment. When you consider that we’ve got almost 800 movies on DVD (and none of them Elvis), that’s a pretty big blank. Hmmm. Maybe some John Wayne stuff….

Yesterday I stuck all of the stuff that we were holding here for Mike out on the front porch and he came over and picked it up. He even brought a friend and picked up the love seat. Lots more room in my “garage” and living room now. Next weekend we’ll get the stuff moved from one storage unit to the other and we’ll be done. I gave him the key to the storage unit, so he can move his own stuff when he needs it.

I’m still working on that inventory app. I branched out a bit to the rest of the house and found that it is almost as badly in need of updating as the “garage”. So my project has just about doubled, though a lot of what I’m doing in the rest of the house is just updating photos. I got a lot done yesterday, but still have quite a bit to go. Honestly, while tiring, it’s been fun.

My quarantine is officially over as of today. They say I’m no longer contagious, but I’m still not feeling 100% so I’m doing church from home again later this morning. I do appreciate the fact that the services are online so I don’t miss one.

We’re supposed to get up to 60 today, with blue skies and sunshine (this is getting repetitious). 40 at the moment.

    Everyone have a blessed Sunday.

I initially (because I’ve been invisible here since Friday, July 19, 2019) asked ML to copy and post this for me here, but if this works all she’ll have to do is draw your attention to my profile here. The original at….

    cleoandcompany.net

… was addressed to her, so I’ve done a bit of editing; I had to cut the length due to the character limit, and rewrite the addressed portions.

I’ve recently read “Going Rogue,” the 29th in the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich; as with ML, she’s one of my favourite authors too. She’s maintained the quality of the writing throughout the whole series (although if you go back to the early books, it’s like going back to the first Garfield cartoon today; the characters have evolved).

I also read Lisa Scottoline (“-line” rhymes with the “-ini” part of bikini).

She has16 well written stand-alone novels to her credit, and her Bennie Rosato and her Mary DiNunzio series about a female law firm in Philadelphia are really well written too; if you don’t read her already, I recommend her to you (the series books can be read for the current story alone).

    On a different subject:

I know several of you here attend church on a regular basis. This week’s “Under The Influence” C.B.C. radio show is about the signs you see outside of churches.

The introduction effectively uses a brief history of The Five Man Electrical Band and its song “Signs” as a lead-in. The rest of the show is devoted to the marketing strategies behind the church signs we see today.

The U.R.L. to the episode is below. It is entertaining and I recommend this particular episode and the show in general.

From last week’s show: “Marlborough” cigarettes were originally advertised only women; going so far as pink filters to mask lipstick smears (easily reached).

Here’s the last part that I stil couldn’t fit into the comment above because of the character limit.I also highly recommend at least visiting “Cleo and Company” to see what it’s about (basically a spoiled, snarky, basset hound (Cleo), and her indulgent owners (Claude and Clara).

There are Friday animations, and find-the-nine-differences puzzles on Saturday (and there’s been a hint of a rerun of the " Murder on the Midnight Express" animation which has guest appearances by Vlad and Grace from “Frog Applause.”

    Good evening, Vagabonds.

It has been a miserable day. The temperature started at 28 and dropped to 23. It has been overcast, windy and the wind had the feeling of ice crystals, but no actual snow or ice. I think I will stay home for the next few days until the son comes back.

Church was good this morning on Loving Others from John 13: 34-35, and I always enjoy studying the books of John,

May you all have a warm and blessed evening.
