Was Gregori Potemkin a undersized failure, too?

The Russians are clever people, and know how to protect their version of history. Potemkin is an instrumental figure in Russia’s claim that Ukraine is really Russian. So they exhumed his body from Kherson and moved his monument somewhere “safe”.

Potemkin “annexed” Ukrainian Crimea from the Turks. He didn’t liberate it. He didn’t conquer it. He just said, “That’s ours” as an excuse for them to claim it. The Ukrainians exchanged one foreign occupier for another. The Turks for the Russians.

A Ukrainian strike killed dozens of newly mobilized soldiers in Russian-held territory in the east of the country in the single-deadliest known strike in months, piling pressure on Moscow’s military leadership, while Ukraine said it shot down at least 39 drones during another wave of attacks on Kyiv.

The problem is who succeeds Putin, apparently the frontrunner is a Russian general.
