The thing about global warming is that what you presented is an Imperfect average surface temperature over the entire world. It is imperfect because sampling is not at regular spatial intervals. Not so many weather stations in the oceans (but more than you might think). Even on land, you’ll find a greater density of weather stations in Pennsylvania than in the Sahara Desert, (Also, the surface temperature doesn’t include the increasing temperature in the upper ocean, which holds vastly more heat than the atmosphere.)
But also there are places where change is happening more quickly, like the Arctic. While the global average has gone up 1C, the Arctic average is up 5C. This has led to the formerly fairly stable arctic air flow having more excursions to the south. Even if the air is warmer than it was 40 years ago, it is still cold. Also, as air warms, it can hold more water vapor. So you can expect more of what we have just seen in the future, Just as we can expect more hot temperature periods in temperate climates.
Atmospheric and oceanic flows exist to redistribute heat — which, as oldcoal notes, increases entropy. Hurricanes and polar vortices serve that same purpose.
The good news is there is the same amount of water on the planet as in pre history, the bad news is some nation will find a way to let it escape into space. Don’t let it be YOU!
