I still largely blame USA sports for exploiting so many of the professional women’s teams by seriously underpaying them in the first place. If she had been paid what she deserved, she would have never traveled to a country that could put her in the situation she is in.
As for me, as things are now, if I traveled to a country such as Russia right now, and found myself being exploited for a prisoner exchange, I would not want such an exchange to go through. The men the Russians want are evil and will cause and have caused harm to the world.
For a nation in which a large proportion of the males exist in an alcoholic stupor, Russia is a real bear on foreigners (especially US citizens) and drug use. Here is another case, Marc Fogel, a teacher, and the amount called excessive by Russia is at the personal level by US standards.
First of all, NO ONE sports person is worth the millions they’re paid! I’m sorry but it’s outrageous and to think we have so people on the streets, and these so called people are idolized by kids….what a wrong message to send to them!!!
To me it’s all about the money than the sport itself.
