Or when the stalk is washed away in the flooding. Given the frequency of extreme prolonged heat, drought and flash flooding, food prices are going to rise because demand doesn’t change but supply has.
Leaders vs managers – there’s a huge difference. No one is telling companies not to make a profit. What is wrong is making incredibly massive profits off of the backs of workers and the people you sell to, especially during times of hardship, and especially if there’s little or no give back to the community, let alone paying your fair share in taxes. If your company or the company you in which you own stock made billions while others suffer, you are a pariah.
That is not socialism, that is usury or price gouging or any and all of the worst forms of capitalism. It’s stealing from your fellow humans. No one said you couldn’t make money or even that you couldn’t make a lot of money. But that complete lack of empathy is a sign of true evil. And fascists will twist that truth to suit their needs and to try and make hard working people feel inferior and that their oppression by fascists is somehow their fault and not the fault of those trying to rlob them.
